The bonfire, so far, was great, Sam was right. Old tribal legends were being shared and everyone was laughing and just hanging out. That still doesn't change my anger towards Jake at all, but it has faded to some degree. He's trying to make up for his rudeness and unthoughtfulness, he was actually doing well. I've never been able to stay too mad at him for too long. I admit, there might be something to us but I don't want to be anything more than a friend to Jake. I can't bear the thought of losing him and I'm afraid it'll turn into a relationship like I had with Edward. I don't want that, I realize now that it was unhealthy to rely so much on one person. Edward leaving me isn't the end, I'll live. It's taken a lot to say that and I know I've come far. Because of Jacob; it's probably not any healthier, but at least I'm willing to walk away if I need to. I can just keep telling myself that it doesn't hurt.

"Bells do you want anything?" Jake asked, standing up in the direction of food and bringing me out of my thoughts.

  "No I'm fine."

"Suit yourself Bella," he smiled his typical home run smile. I wasn't immune and he knew it. If we'd been comparing, Jake would shoot right off the dazzle meter.

Emily scooted closer to me. "Are you okay? Earlier you looked in pain or something."

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. A bug was biting me or something," I lied. It wasn't a big deal and I didn't want it to become one.

She chuckled and nodded her head. "Yeah that happens here. I'm glad you stayed, the only other girl around her is Leah and she only comes around when it's an order," she stated emotionlessly.

I thought about it for a moment. "There's a girl in the pack?" I was pretty astonished.

"Yeah, first one ever. It's been torture for the guys. Leah's my cousin but we don't get along so well anymore."

"That sucks for the guys and I'm sorry for you. Maybe you'll make up someday," I told her carefully, unsure of what to really say.

"That would be nice, but I honestly doubt it."

That's when I realized I was sweating. I had on Jake's zip up hoodie. It was huge on me, but almost small on him. I took off the sweatshirt; laughing at Jake in my head for thinking the weatherman could be right. "That's too bad. I had a friendship back in Phoenix like that."

"Are you sure you're okay? Because it's chilly out and you are sweating a lot."

"Yeah, can't be that chilly. I'm about to pass out from heat stroke," and out of nowhere I felt like crap. In an impossibly short amount of time Jake was sitting by my side, one arm wrapped around my waist.

"Jesus, Bella you're burning up." He moved my damp hair away from my face.

"I should get home," I stood up to fast, Jake's arm lingering on my waist. Paul's watching me and for a split second I meet his gaze.

  "I'll dri-"

"I'm gonna be sick," I bolted for the nearest thing, which happened to be a cooler. Full of leftover uncooked meat. I threw up in the cooler, saturating everything inside.

"Oh that's great; let her ralph inside my cooler," Paul sighed.

"It can be washed, so shut up," one of the younger wolves sputtered in mock bravery. I couldn't see Paul, but I knew he was angry. I could feel it, almost, but amazingly he didn't say anything more about it.

Jake was kneeling by my side tracing circles on the small of my back. It was strangely calming and I was grateful he thought of it, but I got a weird feeling that someone wasn't very appreciative about him touching me.

"Thanks Jake," our faces were really close and I felt bad. He must've just loved my rancid breath.

"Anything for you Bells," he whispered softly in my ear, it tickled.

I tried to get up, I was extremely dizzy. Jake got up alongside me, his arm wrapped around me, clutching my hip to keep me stable. "Come on, I'll drive you home."

It sounded like a good plan to me but in a blink of an eye Paul was in front of us, blocking our path. "You're really that stupid. You attempt to take her home and you aren't going to get very far," he looked annoyed. "You aren't leaving with her Jake," his voice was strong and almost mean, sounded a bit cocky. Jake looked to Sam.

"Paul's right, I doubt you'll get very far with her."

"Fine," he huffed. "Take her to my house, it's the closest."

"As good as an idea that is, I don't think so. You've proved yet again that you're not capable of taking care of her. Your house is small, so not too many people should be in there. I'll take her to the Clearwater's, they’re not all that far from your dinky place."

"And who gave you permission?" A girl growled.

"Shut up Leah," Paul said blatantly. "Seth?"

  "Of course Paul."

"As much as I can't stand this bloodsucking demon lover and wish she wasn't around, I respect Charlie. He wouldn't be very pleased if we tossed his sick daughter aside, Paul admitted.

By that point, I was pretty out of it and didn't catch every word. I'm just filling in the blanks with what sounds right.

"Bella," I stood up straight, trying to stay alert, but it wasn't an easy thing.

"She's already out of it and you don't even notice because you are so worried about the position I gained over you."

  "Jake." I tried to say.

"Bella, it's going to be okay."

"Come on Bella," Paul said to me.

I just stood there looking at him. I imagine Jake smirked and Paul got mad.

Paul got close to me and picked me up bridal style. I wanted to fight against him and tell him off, but I was already falling asleep.

(Paul's PoV)

"Put her down Paul!" Jake yelled at me.

I didn't yell even though my wolf was screaming to put him in his place. Bella was already fast asleep in my arms and there was a horrible part of me that couldn't stand the idea of waking her.

"Just shut up Jake. It's not up to you," I said harshly, letting him know that that was that. He was already learning his place.

I was walking towards the Clearwater's and she started to mumble things that made no sense because it sounded like a run on sentence.

"Mom turn the heat off we live in Phoenix Jake Jake my Jacob Kevin please Dad don't cook anymore I will I love you too Edward," she stopped and started sleeping soundly again.

All I could of was Kevin. Who the hell is he and why was she crying his name?

For the purpose of this story, all of Twilight happened just the way it was written and New Moon as well, up until Bella slapped Paul. I've combined parts of New Moon and Eclipse to help write my story. I hope you guys enjoy! And please leave your feedback.
