twenty-five part two

Start from the beginning

As night came, the Hawkins' household had become quieter. Mackenzie was asleep, Cassius was sleep, Keke was sleep, the children... not so much. The three sat in the play room in a circle speaking to each other in hushed voices to not waken anyone else.

"Six more minutes." Julius counted down looking at his father's Rolex he'd stolen and placed on his wrist.

Caius nodded and put in his three digit code to unlock the safe Cassius had gave him. He lifted the safe open when the latch popped open, granting him free access. Carefully and slowly, Cai lifted out the identical Desert Eagle and examining it for scratches or scuffs.

Julius watched with his mouth slightly open in admiration. "See J," Caius showed him the intricate details more closely. "This is what Daddy said you can have if you do as good as me." Julius looked away, diverting his eyes to floor, keeping his thoughts and emotions to himself.

"How many more minutes J?" Asia asked snapping him from his little daze.

Looking at the watch, he glanced at his sister to answer her. It was 2 AM. "It's time."

Smirking Caius stood up and led them down the hall, around the corner to the master bedroom. "I should shoot him too." Cai whispered to the evil in himself. He could've swore his dad was fucking his mom again. So why the hell was this bitch in his bed with him?

Opening the door quietly and slowly, the three children could see Mackenzie and Cassius cuddled up in the bed under the covers together. Asia had to force herself to look away as Caius walked deeper in to the room. He lifted the gun and placed right above the blanket where her face laid underneath, pressed into Cassius's chest. The head of the gun found it's way in and it was now touching the skin on her cheek.

A loud noise caused Mackenzie to abruptly sit up in the bed. She squinted into the depths of the dark room only to see nothing. She was driving herself crazy over these insane children.

Cassius woke suddenly and noticed her breathing heavily. "What you doing up?" He asked, his voice raspy with sleep. She relaxed at the sound of his voice and leaned back into him, falling back to sleep in the comfort and safety of his strong arms.

Across town Malakai and Riley had just finished dinner at some local restaurant when they decided to stop at the park for a midnight stroll. "You been looking vibracious today, you getting some dick?" Malakai teased, watching the way her skin glowed.

"That's not even a word." Riley laughed and stuck her middle finger up at him. "And no. I am not receiving dick. I'm celibate."

"What? You don't eat meat?"

Riley almost broke her neck to look at him like he lost his marbles. And the fact he was so serious made her double over in laughter. "You can't be serious! I can't breathe!" She wheezed, cackling loudly as he watched unamused.

"What?" He got annoyed.

She laughed some more, wiped the wetness from her eyes and started to walk again. "Don't drop out kids." She said to no one.

Malakai cracked a smile at her and picked up his pace to catch up with her. She was light on the feet, he'll give her that. "You ain't a real friend. Laughing at me."

"Boy we ain't friends. We business partners."

"Business partners don't have sex the way we do."

Riley stopped walking and turned to him, her face scrunched up. "Little boy, you like fifteen. Stop."

"I'm just playing." He quickly said, regarding the fact she called him that young when he was actually like three years younger than her. "You know when people say things to get a reaction? That's what that was."

"A joke, nigga. Say that." She rolled her eyes which landed on a snow cone cart when they came back into place. "Oooh! Buy me one! Blue raspberry!"

They walked up closer to it and Kai checked out the different flavors. "Let me get uh... blue raspberry and a green apple." Riley almost chimed in to change her order to green apple but then she remembered something and kept quiet.

Malakai handed her a twenty, receiving his change and snow cones. "These better be good. Yelling at me to buy you shit like we dating."

"I'm starting to think you like me." Riley played, a small fraction of a smirk on her lips.

"Fuck no!"

Gasping, she slapped his arm making him drop his cone. His mouth fell in horror and Riley quickly ran from him as he chased her in anger. Tripping over a twig, Riley fell to the grass laughing so hard she didn't even feel the impact on her butt. He fell beside her and tickled her nonstop causing the laughs to become uncontrollable.

"Stop! Stop! Ima die! Nigga stop for real I'm not playing no more!" She shouted and he cackled to himself, letting up and moving away.

He let her catch her breath before speaking. "Your tongue is blue." He analyzed causing Riley to stick it out at him. He reacted without thinking and kissed her lips shocking them both.

The two looked at each other with many things running through their head. Malakai was hoping this plan would go through how he wanted, he prayed Riley didn't fall for her children's father again, he wished this little crush he had for her would end before it transpired into something far more.

Riley almost said something when her phone rang taking them both off guard. She dug in her jacket pocket to retrieve it seeing Cassius's number. Knowing it had to be something important for him to call at this time, she answered. "Hello?"

"Riley, get down to the hospital right now. It's important."
