Chapter 28

Zayn and I have been happier than ever this past week. He has managed to come and visit me at work during my lunch everyday. He has been spending a lot of time in the studio with the rest of the boys. He escapes from them to come to lunch with me and sometimes there are fans who come too. They catch us either eating or sometimes making out. I still can not get used to a whole bunch of strangers know who I am, but I keep telling myself that Zayn is worth it. He is very worth it. I am happy with him and always at my best with him.

Zayn was sitting across from me in a small coffeehouse near the library where I work when a girl came up to him and asked him for a picture. Zayn sometimes got tired of taking pictures with fans especially when he was with me, but he always said that he owes them so much and that they are the reason he is here.

“If it wasn't for them and my career, then I wouldn't have met you,” he said, “I owe them.”

I laughed and told him he was exaggerating.

“Have you talked to Christian?” He asked. His question took my by surprised. Why was he asking about Christian?

“Once at work, but he tries to avoid me,” I said.

He just nodded and took a sip of his tea.

“Why do you ask?”

He sighed, “Adeline has a crush on him. She has been trying to contact him, but he keeps ignoring her calls.”

“Adeline?” I asked shocked, “really?”

Zayn nodded, “She really likes him.”

“Maybe if I talk to him we can arrange something for them,” I said. I really wanted Christian to move on and forget about me. I feel like that is the last step that needs to be done in order for me to be completely happy with Zayn. Ever since the night Zayn and I got together I hadn't stopped thinking about Christian and how he walked away with a broken heart. I owe him so much and I really wish he could move on and be able to love someone else. Someone better who can return that love.

“I think you should,” Zayn said.

“I'll see what I can do,” I said.

After we were done with lunch Zayn went back to the studio and I went back to the library. When I walked into library I found Christian stacking some books near the entrance. I took a good look at him and saw bags under his eyes. His joyful smile was turned into a frown and his sheen hair was now dull. I took a deep breathe and walked up to him.

“Hi Christian,” I said making him jump.

He slowly turned to look at me and gave me a broken smile, “Hi Ella.”

“How are you?”

“I'm great,” he lied. I could hear his voice break as he spoke and I knew that he wasn't 'great.'

I didn't say anything I just smiled at him.

He stared at me for a while trying to figure out what I was going to say next. We stood there in awkward silence for a while.

Finally I spoke and said, “So listen. Adeline tells me you have been ignoring her calls.”

He looked at me confused.

“I think you should talk to her,” I said.

He shook his head, “I don't know about that.”
