The doors to the Nemesis medbay did not open.

They exploded inward.

Knockout's helm snapped up so sharply that the diagnostic tool in his servo struck the edge of the medical berth with a metallic clang.

"What in-"

"MEDIC!"

Two Vehicons stumbled through the doorway.

Not walked.

Not marched.

Stumbled.

Between them hung a Cybertronian frame.

At first, Knockout did not recognize who it was.

There was too much energon.

It streaked across dark armor.

Coated the Vehicons' servos.

Dripped onto the polished floor in thick, brilliant-blue droplets that immediately began forming a trail from the doorway toward the center of the medbay.

One of the Vehicons nearly slipped in it.

"Watch it!" Knockout barked automatically. "Put him on berth three-carefully!"

"We-"

"NOW!"

They obeyed.

The wounded mech was lifted.

Turned.

And Knockout saw his face.

His spark seemed to stop.

"...No."

The word left him quietly.

The Vehicons lowered the mech onto the medical berth.

Knockout stared.

"No."

It was Y/n.

Megatron's son.

The only one.

The heir of the Decepticon warlord.

The mech who had grown up aboard Decepticon warships and battle stations, who could walk straight into Megatron's command chamber without requesting permission and somehow live to tell about it.

The mech who insulted Starscream openly.

Who teased Soundwave despite receiving absolutely no reaction in return.

Who stole Knockout's polishing cloths and claimed they were "community property."

Who once climbed onto Breakdown's shoulders after a victory celebration because apparently walking was "too much effort."

Who had inherited Megatron's strength-

-but, Primus help him, very little of Megatron's restraint.

And now-

"Y/n?"

Knockout moved.

Fast.

Professional instincts snapped into place.

Shock could come later.

Grief could come later.

Everything could come later.

Right now there was a patient.

"Get the stabilization clamps!"

One Vehicon scrambled toward the cabinets.
