My hands were shaking before I'd even seen his face.
"It's Jungkook you'll work with," Anna said, and just like that, my whole day tipped over.
I wanted to laugh it off, say something clever and unbothered. Instead, my manicure girl set down the nail file, looked at my hand, and asked gently, like she was talking someone off a ledge, if I needed a minute.
I needed several years, honestly.
Three hours earlier, I would have sworn nothing could rattle me that day.

"Mia, you have to save us." The director was standing in front of me, his eyes gleaming with a plea.
Together with him were his assistant and my best friend and producer, Anna. And they were asking me to willingly get myself into a damn beast's mouth.
"Are you kidding me? I will not replace a well-trained model to shoot in the MV!" I protested, crossing my arms over my chest.
Anna came closer and warmly patted my shoulder. Then she squeezed it, like she wanted to make me listen better.
"I know you can do this. You're elegant and you've learned dancing in university, so it will be easy for you to put your hands in the right position. And there won't even be your face. Just hands," she insisted.
"Why won't you tell me who the artist is?"
"Because that's a contract term. I cannot reveal it to the crew until the very end," Dave added.
"Do I know him?"
"I bet you do."
"Then tell me."
"I'm sorry, I can't."
Fuck, this was irritating. They were asking me to do the 'hand acting' with the artist I didn't even know. In three hours.
The model who was supposed to have this role got into an accident and broke her hand — the one we needed the most for the video. And as they told me, the artist's team told them to find a replacement today or they'd pull out of the deal. I've been working with Dave for two years now, and I saw how much this contract meant to him. Even though he was super secretive about the name of the artist, I knew it was someone big. Huge maybe.
And it only made me more nervous.
I rubbed the bridge of my nose, contemplating the pros and cons. Well, I needed money because my landlord was kicking me out and I had to find a new apartment fast. And Anna was right — it wasn't much of a problem for me to do hand choreography, I was pretty good back in university.
Wait, am I already agreeing?
"If I jump in, will you pay me both a salary as assistant producer and as a model?" I asked, surprised by my own audacity.
Dave and Anna visibly cheered up and held their breath, not wanting to scare me off.
"Yes! Yes, we'll cover both," Dave said too quickly.
"Fine. I'll do that. But that's still a favor, and you both owe me."
Anna started jumping and attacked me with a tight hug.
"You're the best!"

I spent the next two hours reading the script and practicing the movements on Anna. It was a lyrical music video, as I was told, and the song was about the love he craves but cannot get. Dave's idea was to reach fans' hearts directly by filming some scenes from her POV.
