"Grab the money and let us make haste Johanne." Stefan whispered to me, turning and waltzing towards the grand mahogany doors of the foreign home that we had no business inviting ourselves into tonight, tossing the blood speckled dagger -that must've been at least ten inches long- down into the heart of our wealthy victim of whom had his insides on show for whoever finds him in his permanent slumber.
The poor soul put up a fight for his life indeed, I almost felt an inch of pity for him.
"Rest in peace." Stefan mocked, looking down at the body before running a bloody hand through his chestnut curls and reaching into one of the many pockets of his studded, leather jacket for a cigarette.
It was quite a scene.
Our victim had heard Stefan punch his window until it smashed before we crawled through it to enter his home, and the old fool came blundering down the stairs that Stefan and I were hiding under, making it an easy attack from behind.
"Whatever shall we do with this unfortunate morsel?" I sighed, lifting my fragile, anaemic hand to my face to wipe the blood from around my mouth, looking down at the crimson mess on the chequered linoleum. "Shall we take him with us?"
Stefan turned slowly to face me whilst lighting the cigarette that was hanging from his lips before inhaling and exhaling a puff of smoke that filled the air. He then strode over to where I was standing, hands in pockets and sharp features becoming more visible as he came into the slither of moonlight, beaming through an upstairs window opposite us before lifting up my black, laced veil to reveal my face and sliding his gory fingers into my mouth. An ear to ear smile etched across his face as I let out a satiated moan after tasting the iron that I had been craving for weeks as I felt myself become more and more radiant with every drop of blood I consumed.
"Are you full, Johanne?" Stefan questioned, not taking his dark eyes off mine, as he brought the cigarette to my cranberry lips. I nodded and he cupped my cheeks to peck my forehead.
"Good." He said cunningly, raising his eyebrows and smirking at me as he spoke, bringing my attention to his dimples of which I adored greatly. "You're glowing darling."
Pleased with himself, Stefan dropped his hands from my face and flicked the still burning cigarette butt into the pocket of one of our victims mink coats that was hanging on the wall, after planting a delicate kiss to my lips.
Grasping my wrist as the coat immediately set alight, sending roaring flames up the panelled wall, Stefan dragged me towards the broken window of which we had entered through without haste, leaving the weapon at the scene. Carefully stepping over the disembowelled body, I picked up the bag of money as I made my way out of the crime scene.
Both me and Stefan laughed, still hand-in-hand as we swiftly made our way down the many, marble steps of our victim's -now- fire engulfed home to his Harley Davidson that was parked outside.
Stefan lifted me onto the back of the bike and threw his leather jacket over my shoulders before stepping onto the driver's seat and starting up the bike.
Mesmerised, I watched the flames consume the building as we fled the scene, thinking we had gotten away with it once again before my attention was ever so rudely stolen by the blaring sirens and flashing, blue lights of police cars surrounding us.
"Shit." Stefan mumbled, quickly stopping the bike and removing as armed officers sprinted out of their vehicles, in all directions, pointing shotguns towards us.
I guess this is the price for having your face splashed on newspapers and wanted posters all over the country.
"Step away from the vehicle and put your fucking hands behind your heads now!" One of them shouted through a megaphone from inside a vehicle.
What a pussy.
Not obeying the order, I stood up from the bike, pulling my emergency pistol out from my leather, thigh garnet and blew the head off the officer approaching me, smirking maniacally and breathing heavily as I watched him fall down lifelessly.
"Atta girl." Stefan coaxed, still sat on the Harley, behind me.
However, this did not work in my favour for I was tackled to the ground, from behind, almost immediately after, causing me to drop my weapon and watch it slide across the ground, as my hands were pulled and bound behind my back by the officer sat on top of me.
"Johanne!" Stefan screamed, pushing over his bike before charging towards me before he too was also tackled from behind however he vigorously head-butted whoever attempted to do so, breaking their nose process and spitting on them as they collapsed, covering their face.
Eventually, after having put up a fight, Stefan was shot in the thigh by a large officer, causing me to release a shrill scream before he was pinned down and bound beside me by three officers, growling and squirming in both pain and anguish.
"I swear to fucking god sir, if you don't stop moving I will shoot you again!" The same officer warned.
Shortly after, I heard a sour-faced, blonde woman of whom was clutching her clipboard, and stood by the officer with the megaphone, order the officer stood behind us to "remove Stefan's knuckle duster" and this of course poked the bear even further.
"You motherfuckers." Stefan mumbled, rolling his eyes as he still breathed heavily on the ground, out of frustration.
"We're gonna open fire in ten seconds." The officer with the megaphone announced, causing me to gasp and turn my head to look at Stefan who I noticed had squeezed his eyes shut as he braced himself for what was coming, knowing he was human. "Keep clear of the criminals team. Ten..."
"Oh god." I cried, feeling defenceless, shuffling over to Stefan, on my belly to hold his hand after the officers slowly backed away from where we were laid, rising their guns towards us.
"Eight..."
"It's okay, Johanne." Stefan whispered, turning his head towards me and squeezing my hand. "You cannot die."
"Six..."
Tears combined mascara began to stream down my face as I met eyes with him one last time and inhaled a shakey breath. "What is life without you in it Stefan?"
"Four..."
"You'll find your feet." He replied with a reassuring smile that somehow brought a slither of peace to my mind in the most distressing situation I have ever experienced before continuing, "I love you Johanne."
"I will always love you Stefan." I sobbed, not letting go of his hand and leant my head onto his as he closed his eyes and braced himself for what was to come. "But this is not the end."
"One..."
"What?" He exclaimed confused as I lifted my head from his and bit his neck as hard as I could, tasting his sweet flesh on my tongue as my fangs pierced his skin, just before hearing the officer with the megaphone command the armed to, "Open fire."
