Chapter 2:
I look over myself in the mirror; making sure my chaos of brown curls were all straightened. Miranda had talked me into wearing a tight one strapped black dress, which stopped just above my knees, showing off my tan legs and curves; along with a pair of black and gold heels, to match my gold necklace.
“You’re gorgeous.” I looked over to Miranda as she joined me in front of the mirror. She wasn’t like most of the fake tanned blondes at this college, she was petite, with a crazy personality, and didn’t care for others opinions at all which is what I loved about her. She wore a tight red dress, and red heels that went well with her pale complexion. Her bright blonde hair curled down past her shoulders.
“Thanks but you’re pretty stunning.” I giggle out as I turn back towards the mirror.
“You are both gorgeous, now I can show you two off at the party, if we ever get to go!” Zayn complains, I turn towards him as Miranda grabbed her red clutch and slides our phones into it “Then let’s go” I make my way to the door..
˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜
“This was a bad idea.” I say regretful as Zayn parks outside of a huge two story house. I look around and see crowds of people standing outside, some people dancing, jumping around, and drowning themselves in alcohol. I would much rather be locked up in my dorm alone. Music floods my ears as I slide out of the car “Just stick with me Kaitlyn, and try to have fun” Miranda assures me as we make our way to the door.
Once inside I am immediately hit with the smell of smoke, mixed with alcohol, sweat, and cheap perfumes. Miranda grabs my hand and pulls me past a long staircase full of wasted people; I start coughing as we enter a large kitchen and smoke fills my lungs. How do people deal with all this going on in their own home? “Here you go babe.” I looked over towards Miranda as she handed me a drink. I really shouldn’t be drinking, one of us has to drive home, but maybe one wouldn’t hurt to get me through the night.
“Thanks, but who is driving home.” I asked as I took a sip of the strange alcohol. “Beats me” She laughed, taking a sip of her drink. “What do you mean? We need some way home, someone will be responsible.” I scold her. She didn’t even have a plan for getting home or decide a designated driver, she is so irresponsible!
“Kaitlyn calm down, let loose remember! Zayn doesn’t party drink; don’t worry!” Miranda reassured me, finished off her drink. Zayn came up, winked at me, and pulled Miranda towards the living room, which was currently being used as a dance floor. ‘Let loose’ her words echoed through my head. She’s right. College is supposed to be full of adventure, making memories, so fuck it. I’m having fun tonight, I don’t care tonight. I downed the rest of my drink and pulled another bottle out of the fridge.
After my fifth drink I found myself on the dance floor, moving my hips back and forth to the music. Last I saw of Miranda and Zayn the two of them were near a corner sucking each other’s faces, but that was maybe an hour ago. I didn’t care at the moment, all I could feel was the beat of the music and the buzz from the alcohol, telling my body which way to move.
“Mind dancing with me?” Snapping out of my trance and following the thick British accent, I turn around to be greeted by a pair of brown eyes and a heart racing smirk. I step back for a moment and examine ‘brown eyes’. He had gorgeous chiseled features, along with short brown hair; he was wearing a short sleeved plaid shirt, unbuttoned with a white shirt underneath that showed off his tattoos and muscular arms along with some dark, baggy skinny jeans.
“Sure thing.” I smirk up at the sexy strange man as he took ahold of my hand and pulled me closer to him. The two of us move in sync to the beat together, twisting, grinding, and sweating from the heat. I was finally letting go, his hands moved around my waist, tracing every curve of my body as adrenaline moved through my veins. We danced for god knows how long before a song ended and he pulled me from the crowd of people and into the kitchen.
“Want me to fetch drink?” brown eyes asks me as I fan myself from the heat, I nod and he makes his way into the kitchen. I snap my eyes away from him and search through the crowd for any sign of Zayn or Miranda, but they are nowhere to be found. My hands pat down my boobs in search of my phone, but I quickly remember Miranda put it into her clutch.
“Here you are doll.” I look over to see brown eyes smiling at me, handing me a cup of punch. I examine it, making sure there wasn’t anything wrong with it. “Don’t worry; it’s just punch, no alcohol. I’m Liam by the way, Liam Payne.” He offers me his hand, and I take it, smiling up at him. Liam Payne, I’ve heard his name before, but where? Maybe Miranda has mentioned him before, or possibly a friend of Zayn’s, but I can’t put my finger on it.
“I’m Kaitlyn Flores” I basically yell out over all the noise. “Are you here alone? Certainly not a gorgeous girls like you.” His accent; hot enough to make me melt. I blush at his comment and take a sip of my drink. “I came here with friends, but they seem to be nowhere in sight” I scan the crowd once more, but still no luck.
“Would you mind getting any fresh air?” Liam looks down to me, and I look up, realizing he is about half a foot taller than me. I nod and follow him through the kitchen and out onto a backyard patio.
I look around, seeing people lounging around a pool full of topless people. Classy. I quickly spot Zayn in a circle of people, smoking a cigarette sitting in a patio chair, Miranda in his lap. From the way she was hysterically laughing I could tell she’s had too much to drink. I look up towards Liam, “Can we go to the other side of the pool, I found my friends I came with?” He nods and follows me towards the circle and I walk over to Miranda.
“Wheere haavee yoouu beeen Kaiitlyyn!?” Miranda slurs out, while taking another drink. “I’ve been inside, you ditched me to go makeout.” I shot a glare towards her, letting her know I was mad at her, but she was too wasted to care at this point. A bitter smell of smoke hit my face, before I realized why everyone was in a circle. I watched a cute blonde boy hit a blunt before passing it to Liam. Good lord no wonder Miranda was out of it. I spotted her little red clutch beside her, and pulled my iPhone out, checking all my messages from my mother, asking how my studying was going. I ignored them and slipped my phone into my bra.
“So are you enjoying yourself Kaitlyn?” I look over to Zayn as he put out his cigarette and took a drag from the blunt. “Actually yes I am” My eyes caught Liam’s and he smiled at me, my heart beat quickens and I quickly looked away feeling my face turn red.
“Well enjoy it while you can, cause we are about to head out” Zayn says, handing me the blunt, I just pass it to the guy next to me. I glance at Liam out of the corner of my eye, disappointed we were about to leave.
I turn towards Zayn,“I’ll be dancing, call me when you’re ready to leave” I say before jumping up, and making eye contact with Liam. I walk out of the circle as he grabs a hold of my hand and follows me inside.
“I couldn’t pass up another dance” Liam smirks down at me as I pull him into the middle of the crowd. I smile up at him and again begin to move my hips, finding a rhythm, putting my arms above my head. I close my eyes as I feel his hands begin to trace me again, instantly shooting electricity through my body. His fingertips reach the hem of my dress and my heartbeat speeds up as I feel his breath on my neck and he pulls me closer. He turns me so that I’m facing him and looks down at my lips then back at me. I bite my lip and start to lean in but instantly stop as my phone in my bra starts to play my Sleeping with Sirens ringtone. Seriously? I squeeze my eyes shut in defeat and back up, pulling my phone put and answering it.
“Hey Kaitlyn, we are out front in the car, Miranda had enough for the night” I recognize Zayn’s voice “Okay I’ll be out there in a second” I look over towards Liam who had a confused look on his face, and quickly hang up.
“I’m sorry, I have to go” I huff as disappointment spreads across his face.
“I’ll walk you out.” Liam says, taking my hand, and pushing through the crowd towards the door. Cold air hits my face as we walk out, and Liam continues to walk me down the path towards Zayn’s black Range Rover.
“Would it be strange of me to ask for your number?” Liam smiles as me, making my heart race. We reach the sidewalk and hands me his phone.
“Not at all” I smile, taking the phone and quickly typing my number into it. I hand it back to him a give him a quick wave before climbing into the car.
