(REPOST) Chapter 25

Start from the beginning

I nodded my head. "Yeah Mama, I got it."

"Good. So, tell me how school's going. You still getting F's or did you finally decide to turn over a new leaf and start getting A's? You know, you can't be Valedictorian like I was with all of those F's."

I sighed. "Yeah, I know Mama but I'm doing better. It's only been a week and a half since I started living with Grandma and Grandpa but I've been doing my homework every night and getting A's on it. Does that make you happy?"

"Mhmm. And what about your behavior? I haven't got any calls about you being suspended or in detention, so I'm just gonna take that as your behavior is improving. Please tell me it's getting better."

"It is."

"Alright, I hope you're not lying to me but we're supposed to be having a little family get together this week at our house and your cousin Willie's supposed to be there too."

I frowned. That's some bullshit. Mama already knows I don't get along with Willie so she shouldn't have even invited him over the house. He's not apart of the family. He's my third cousin so he's basically not even blood. And he's never been to any of our family reunions to even know all of the family and I can't stand his ass either, neither can Lindsey. I don't know who's dumb ass decision it was to invite him over since nobody likes him.

"I can't stand him."

"And? Get over that shit," Mama replied. "Willie's your cousin and just because y'all got into one little fight doesn't mean you guys can't set aside your differences. I'm sure you guys have gotten into plenty of fights before and let it go. How come you can't do the same thing this time?"

"Because at a certain time you just get tired of putting up with people's crap. You can't settle your differences because you're tired of the same old crap with that person. I hate him just as much as you hate Miss. Charlotte."

Mama laughed. "Alright, so you hate him a lot then. Oh, we went to see her earlier today."

"About what?"

Your Dad had to talk to her about something but she was on her same ol' shit baby. It wasn't nothing new. As soon as we walked inside of her mediocre house, she started with the insults and name calling. So, I started clapping back on her ass and I put her in her place but your Dad really checked that hoe. She shouldn't be around for a good month or so before she starts back with her same old shit."

I laughed. "Dang Mama, I wish I could've saw that."

"You probably will this week during the family get together. Your dumb ass father thought it was a good idea to invite her over so she could see Isaiah."

I smirked. "A'ight, well you definitely know I'mma be there Mama. You know I got your back if she tries something with you."

"I know you do baby but I highly doubt she'll do anything to me. You know your Dad will check her ass before she gets too out of control," she laughed. "But what's up with you? Do you have any plans for tonight?"

I sighed as I leaned up against my headboard. When does she ever care about what I'm doing? "Nothing. Aubrey's gonna come over and we just gon' chill, that's all. He's staying the night too but what's up with you?"

She took a deep breath. "Nothing at all. Your Dad's going to be at the club most of the night, Daniel's spending the night at his friend's house, Lindsey's on a date and I don't wanna mess with Ava and Adrian. They need their alone time so I guess you're my last choice."

I frowned. "Really Mama? We're not even gonna be doing anything you're interested in," I replied. Grandma and Grandpa were gonna be gone for the night and some of tomorrow because they had to do something for church so I was gonna have the house all to myself for the night. Aubrey planned on bringing over a couple bottles and some weed and we were gonna order pizza and just chill for the night but now Mama's gonna try to come over and kill the vibe.
