Really?

I stare at Rikki astonished because of what just happened.
"You're a-a-" I say trying to get the word out.
"Mermaid? Yep!" She says happily. I just stared at her.
"Well?" She says expecting me to freak out. I looked at her tail.
"Can I touch it?" I ask hesitantly. She flaps her tail and nods. I kneel down and gently touch the scaly thing.
"And I also have a power," she says.
"Power?" I say looking at her.
"Can you bring me a glass of water?" She asks. I nod and go fill up a glass of water and brought it to her. She set a towel down and set the glass on top of it.
"Watch," she says. I turn to the glass and wait for something to happen. Rikki holds her hand out towards the glass and makes a fist. The water starts to boil. Like actually, BOIL! She relaxes her hand and I reach out and touch the glass. I quickly yank my hand back.
"Ow!" I say. She laughs.
"Too bad Emma isn't here. She could cool it down," she says. I look at her questioningly.
"Let me start from the beginning," she says.
"Aren't you going to like, dry off first?" I say.
"Oh, right!" She says and steams her self dry.
"Not what I was thinking but, okay!" I say as we walk into our room.
"So, first of all I'm not the only one. Cleo, Emma, and Bella are mermaids too," I nod taking it all in.
"What are they're powers?" I ask.
"I think they should tell you that," she says and I nod.
"How long have you been a mermaid?" I ask. She thinks.
"About a year or two?" She says unsure. I nod still not knowing what to say.
"How?" I ask. She tilts her head to one side.
"How did you become a mermaid?" I say. She nods and purses her lips.
"How about we go to sleep and tomorrow Cleo, Bella, and I will tell you.
"But-" I began but, Rikki cut me off.
"You want to know the secret or not?" She says. I roll my eyes.
"Fine!" I say, wanting to know more.
"Night," she says and turns off the light. We both crawl into bed.
"Night," I say deep in thought.
I stare into the darkness wondering; Why did Rikki not tell me sooner?
