Chapter Sixteen

"I'm sorry," I choked on my tears

"I'm sorry I've wasted everyone's time and money, I wanted this believe me. But I can't marry someone when I'm still in love with someone else, that would be a disservice to Ethan," I turned away from the crowd and looked at Ethan

"Please forgive me, I am so sorry," tears now fell down my cheeks

"I am too," he said in a monotone voice

"I want you to forget about me and find the girl you've always wanted, I want you to be so happy in this life," I compelled him

Once Nik, Esther and I got outside the silence broke.

"So what happened up there?" Nik asked

"I genuinely planned to marry him. Sometimes I really hate being what I am but I couldn't pretend to be normal, with you I can be who I am," I said

"Let's be honest, you saw me in this tux and you just couldn't handle yourself," Nik joked

"Obviously," I laughed

When I looked over at him he was giving me an admiring look.

"What?" I asked

"Nothing," he smiled

"I just think you're absolutely beautiful," he whispered in my ear

"Well let's go home," I said.

I was so grateful, everything I wanted was right under my nose. I had a beautiful family and the man I've always wanted.

Once we got home we changed out of the clothes that were meant for today.

"Care what are these?" I stood at the top of the stairs as Nik opened the envelopes

"They're plane tickets for your honeymoon," he said

Ethan and I were supposed to go on a week long cruise to the Caribbean islands. 

"Should we go?" I asked

"No, he deserves them," Nik said.

The old Klaus would've killed Ethan possibly tortured him but now he wants Ethan to be happy. It warmed my heart that I was the reason, I'm the reason he changed.

It just felt so nice to be someone's first choice.
