The next morning I decided to stay home from school. Since it would be a free day at school for Seniors I figured why not stay home? I sat up in my bed and looked over at the time it was now 8:20am. I figured Orphan would still go to school since I wouldn't. I walked into the hallway and peeked out. Orphan's door was closed, but the bathroom light was on. I opened the door fully and stepped out into the hallway.

I tried sneaking down the hallway to sneak a peak at him but the door closed before I even got near it. I sighed and walked downstairs. Dad was sitting at the table reading his morning paper. I walked into the kitchen and greeted him with a hug.

"Good morning Dad." I say, pulling back from the hug.

"Good morning. You're not going to school?" He asks, sitting his paper down.

I pull out the chair in front of him. "No. It's a free day." I respond taking a seat.

"Oh..." He nods and drinks his morning cranberry juice.

We both sit silent for a minute before I decide to ask a sudden question.

"Dad where did you find Orphan?"

His eyes widen at his paper, and he lifts it up to cover his face. "What do you mean?" He asks, not answering my obvious question.

"I mean... Do you know where he came from or anything about him. It's hard to talk to him because he so ominous."

"I know enough..." Dad says and sits his paper down to look at me. "Listen Jahod..." He starts. "There are some things in this world that shouldn't be questioned or tampered with. Don't dig into that boy's life. Only thing you should be interested in is his future."

I sit back in thought. By him telling me not to dig it's making me want to know even more than I already thought I did.

"I'm not digging. Is anything wrong with me wanting to get to know a complete stranger." I explain.

Dad shakes his head. "You're not understanding me. It's best that you not get too close to him Jahod. Getting to know who him is one thing but prying into his life is a gateway to agitation. "

I don't understand what he means. "You don't want me to pry but it's hard not to do that when someone who is as enigmatic as him or as cryptic as you're being."

"Read my lips Jahod. Leave it alone..." He exaggerates. "You don't know what you're unraveling. I don't want to and I will not have this conversation with you about Orphan anymore. Do you understand?"

     I just stare at him.

"Do you understand?" He asks again placing a finger in my face.

"Yes sir..." I respond. "I'll respect his privacy."

Dad nods and looks up to see Orphan standing in the doorway. "Ready to go Bud?" He asks, standing up.

Orphan stares at Dad and nods then looks at me. I don't know why but I quickly looked away. His whole Aura was petrifying. Dad flashed him a smile and then looked at me as they started to walk out. I got up and followed behind them. Before Dad exited he turned to me once more.

"Remember what I said Jahod. Don't go looking for information and get scared by the facts..." He said and closed the door.

Those words would forever sit in the back of my mind mainly because of the message embedded into his words.

I watched as they pulled off down the road. I turned around and walked back up to my room. When I got pass Orphan's door I heard a slight creaking sound. I looked back down the dark hallway and saw a small light flick on. For all of these months I have never went into Orphan's Room. I turned around and stared at the crack in the doorway. Orphan never leaves his door open and he rarely comes out of his room. My curiosity was at an all time high.
