I woke up on my own, that's odd... I never wake up on my own.
He's always there to wake me with cuddles and kisses.
The sun is already shining brightly outside so I don't think I'm early.
A yawn escapes my mouth and I turn around to stare at the door before deciding to get up.
I gotta pee...
After finishing my business I walk to his room, the door is slightly open as always.
His room is still shrouded in darkness.
I crawled on his bed and glanced at the round thing with glowing symbols standing on the table next to his bed.
Not that I can exactly read what it says but over time I've come to notice certain symbols only appear at certain times of the day, and the symbols I know are there in the morning when we have to leave are clearly there.
We are late, that's not good.
Annoyed, I nudged him.
Gently at first but when he doesn't respond a bit firmer.
"Wake up, we are late."
All he does is groan and shift his position, his scally arm toppling me over as he turns, pulling me against him.
Well at least I got my cuddles, but that doesn't change the fact we are late.
I do notice something odd, his smell is off and so is his body temperature.
It takes some squirming but when I'm finally free I can tell he's not feeling okay.
His eyes are still closed, he snores, there seems to be snot running from his nostrils and his scales look gray instead of colorful.
But that last thing could also be because it is still dark in here.
I'll open the blinds, I know he loves basking in the sun.
It's a mystery why he hasn't opened them already.
I think as I glide off the bed and walk to the window.
My suspicions are confirmed when the sun illuminates the room.
It wasn't my imagination, he does look kinda pale.
Still he doesn't really respond to my presence and keeps sleeping.
I nudge him again, urging him to get up so we can go.
But he flips over again and now I'm staring at his back.
What's wrong with him?
Unsure about what to do next I leave the room and walk downstairs.
In the hall I stare at his coat, bag and my harness.
Maybe if I show him those he'll get what time it is?
I put my head and arms through the harness, the leash drags behind me while I pull his bag off the desk.
This is what he always brings along, there is a pouch in there he uses when he wants to take things from certain places.
Sometimes he has a difficult expression and they'll grumble a lot against each other before he pulls out that pouch, but I do know it's needed if you want something.
It's odd walking with the harness half open like this and the leash dragging but it closes on my back and I can't reach there.
Back in his room I push the bag and his coat against his face.
"Come on, Treat Lord... wake up. We are really late."
I whine, quietly thinking about all the things we still have to do together.
But still he doesn't respond and keeps sleeping.
Fed up with his inaction I huff annoyed.
"Fine! Then I'll go without you, stupid lizard. We did it so many times together I can manage on my own."
I took his bag with me, leaving his coat half over him and his blanket.
If he's not getting up I'll do our morning chores on my own.
With his bag and my leash in my hand I walk out the door and towards my first destination, his morning drink.
The sun's warm rays already lighten my mood as I begin on my little mission.
It's a bit odd doing it without him, but not doing it at all feels even weirder.
