It's cold out on the street.

When you're homeless, you have no roof over your head.

You're open to all the elements.

The rain, the snow, the heat, the wind.

Everything.

People stare at you either in disgust or pity. Most times they just ignore you though.

One thing I just wish I could have is someone. Anyone that I could hope for-- depend on.

But we can't have everything we want.

"Hayley?"

I look up from the book I was holding. "Yes?"

"What are you doing out on the sidewalk?" the woman who I don't recognize asks.

"I live here now." I answer nonchalantly.

"Oh, silly! Don't you live with your parents?"

That question hurt. Really, it did. They're dead. "Nah. I moved out. Who are you again?"

Shock was the first emotion in her eyes before realization crosses her face. "Oh dear, you never met me officially. I'm your Aunt Lorrie. Your mother-- my sister, and I used to be so close until our fight during my wedding day."

I blink at her. I never heard of an Aunt Lorrie before.

"If you want a place to stay, you could live with me."

Hell no. No matter how much you know about me: if I don't know about you? You can piss off. "Sorry. No can do. I don't know you."

"But I'm your Aun- "

"Don't know is equal to don't care, lady." I grumble, glaring silently. "Kapeesh?"

She steps back a little before sighing. "No, I can't- "

"I don't want to force you to leave me alone."

"But- "

"Leave." I hiss.

Quickly, she moves away from me, fearing for what I'll do.

That's right. You better run. Let the homeless lady and all her stuff alone.
