The Walking Dead [Daryl Dixon]

Chapter 30- A safe haven

"Yup, well our kids are just like they're father"

I punched his shoulder playfully "Just Jake. Victoria is like her mom"

He chuckled "Yea. I'm so happy"

I looked at him "Me too"

"Mommy mommy!" Victoria said running to us

"Hey baby what's up?"

"Can we get ice cream?" She asked with puppy dog eyes

I chuckled "Oh course baby girl. Go get your brother and we will get going"

"Okay!" She ran away back to the playground

"So I work tomorrow night, can you watch the kids or do you have someplace to go?" I asked

He shook his head "No I will watch them"

"Okay, just no scary movies please"

"What scary movies are the best at night"

"Babe. Victoria had nightmares for three nights straight after watching that scary movie " I said looking at him

"She did? Ah don't worry baby no scary movies I promise" He kissed my cheek

After the kids got here we got ice cream from a truck on the corner of the park. After the ice cream Victoria grabbed Daryl's hand

"Daddy come play with us!" Victoria screamed

"Okay let's go on the swings" Daryl said grabbing her hand and Jake running behind him.

I watched in admiration as they swung on the swings and Daryl pushing them both. This is my life, my kids. This is exactly what I want. This is my safe haven

"Mom, come play with us!" Victoria screamed

I laughed and walked over to them. I began swinging them

"No mom come sit next to me" Victoria said

I nodded and sat on a swing next to her. The day was so beautiful. There was a slight breeze. The sky was full of clouds so it wasn't too hot. People and kids were here in the park, families like us. I felt a slight push behind me. I turned to see Daryl pushing me. He smiled and I returned the smile. He kept pushing me and pushing. I was getting higher as he kept pushing me.

"Daryl!" I screeched in excitement

"Just a few more pushes then you jump off"

I nodded laughing. He came me a few more pushes and I closed my eyes. Right after I jumped off I went flying foward. I opened my eyes and Daryl was in front of me. He broke my fall as both fell with me on top. We both began laughing and I heard the kids giggling

We both looked at each other "Thanks for catching me"

"No problem Mrs. Dixon"

I smiled

"If you fall I will be here to catch you"

"Promise?" I asked

"Promise" He said looking into my eyes. He picked up his head and kissed me. I kissed back in passion

"Ewwwww"

We broke the kiss and looked at the kids who were covering their eyes. We looked at each other and laughed

"I love you Haley Dixon" He said pushing a piece of my hair back

"I love you too Daryl Dixon"

~Daryl's P.O.V~

Once we got back from the run we brought back the medicine. We ran into the cell giving Hershel do he can inject the medicine in the sick people. I was about to leave when I noticed a cell that was closed. I knew the person looked familiar. I slowly walked over and opened the gate instantly when I saw who it was. I was by her side in a second. I grabbed her hand, it was cold. No. I felt for a heart beat, it was faint. And she was wheezing

"She's going to be okay now Daryl" Hershel said entering the cell with a syringe and the medicine

"I didn't know she was sick" I said not taking my eyes off of her

"She got sick before you left, I wanted to tell you but it seemed as if you two were in a fight"

"How long has she been out?" I asked

Hershel put the syringe in her arm. He made sure to put it carefully. Once he took it out no blood came out. It was just a perfect spot no blood leaked.

"A day at most, I checked on her all the time. She should wake up soon when the medicine kicks in"

I nodded. Hershel stood up and walked out. I held her hand and ran my thumb over her cheek, even though we had that fight it didn't matter to me. All that matters is her getting better.
