Chapter 12- Gone?

~Daryl's P.O.V~

After we got out of there we got back to the car. Merle was being an ass and Rick knocked him out. We walked to the road to talk about the situation.

"It won't work" Rick said

"It's gotta" I responded

"It'll stir things up" Rick said

"Look, the governor is probably on the way to the prison right now. Merle knows how he thinks and we could use the muscle" I said trying to make a point

"I'm not having him at the prison" Maggie commented

"Do you really want him sleeping in the same cell block as Carol or Beth? Haley?" Glenn asked

I shook my head "He ain't a rapist"

"Well his buddy is" Glenn shot back

"They ain't buddies no more. Not after last night" I fought

"There's no way Merle's gonna live there without putting everyone at each others throats" Rick said

We gotta make this work I thought

"So your gonna cut Merle loose and bring the last samurai home with us?" I said pointing at her then putting my hand down

"She's not coming back" Rick said

"She's not in a state to be on her own" Maggie added

"She did bring you guys to us" Glenn said

"And then ditched us" Rick added

"At least let my dad stitch her up" Maggie said

"She's too unpredictable" Rick said which was true

"That's right we don't know how she is" I said glancing at her "But Merle, Merle's blood"

"No, Merle is your blood. My blood, my family is standing right here and waiting for us back at the prison" Glenn said

"And you're part of that family" Rick added looking at me "But, he's not. He's not"

I just looked at him. I stayed silent looking at each and everyone of them. Merle was already up leaning against the tree "Man, y'all don't know" I said taking on step back "Fine. We'll fend for ourselves"

"That's not what I'm saying" Glenn said

"No him, no me" I blurt out. Merle is my damn brother I ain't leavin him behind once again

"Daryl, you don't have to do that" Maggie said

"It was always Merle and I before this"

"Don't" Maggie began

"You serious?" Glenn asked "Your just gonna leave like that?"

"You'd do the same thing" I said

"What do you want us to tell Haley huh?" Glenn asked
