The long day finally ended, you were dismissed to go home where you could finally be alone again and go over your thoughts with yourself.
The first day had been jam-packed with far more than you were ready to process and it left you exhausted.
At least it wasn't boring?
That's what you were worried about originally, and now here you were, sitting on your couch feeling like your whole world was flipping.
Your emotions were swirling like a tornado. So much had happened today. Too much.
Fear, anxiety, stress. You were feeling it all, and for good reason. The chase, the almost dying, and immediately learning your father's secrets afterwards. It was a lot to take in, your mind didn't even know where to start.
You thought about not going back. The threat that Cyberlife was watching you for an unknown reason made you uneasy.
Though that meant you wouldn't get to see him again.
That's not what should be important to me right now.
But it was.
Your mind was roaring just like the storm that had started outside. The weather was getting bad, the night becoming heavy with rain.
Darkness enclosed the space in your living room, the only light came from the partially covered moon and a frequent lightning strike. You sat, hugging your knees to your chest on the sofa. The lights were all off, sitting in the dark didn't bother you right now. You didn't feel like doing anything while your mind raced through events.
One thought kept lingering more than others, that being you couldn't trust your own father.
He had sent you into something without giving the full expectations, and those expectations still remained an unknown secret to you. No one would give the full story and that didn't settle well within you.
Fowler's warning left you with too many questions, too many thoughts that you couldn't wrap your head around. It created conspiracies within your mind, giving you the notion that no one told the truth.
You were a part of something bigger, something you didn't fully understand.
You just needed to know why. There must be a reason it had to be you.
What was the final piece?
The rain roared on and so did your thoughts, you nearly missed the knock at the door. Somehow you had heard it though, two quiet knocks against the wood that could hardly be heard past the rain that fell.
You froze where you were, fear setting in once more. No one should be at your residence this time of night.
Another steady tap came, causing a shivering fear to crawl up your spine.
You gathered your courage and left the safety of the couch, slowly making your way to the door. Your body trembled as you checked the peephole.
It's him. Of course it's him, you should have been able to guess. But then again, why would he be here?
Your hands still shook, hesitated over the metal handle. But watching him, soaked in the rain and waiting for you, you caved and opened the door, finally letting him step past you into your darkened home.
His hair was dripping and droplets of rain dampened his clothes and face. You wondered how long he had been standing out there, if maybe he also had hesitated by the door.
"What are you doing here?" The words finally came to you, though they came out hushed, almost a whisper. The rain made your shaking voice near impossible to make out, but you knew he could, he had been designed to pick up on everything.
