Stella's pov:
The ball hit the floor hard — again.
"I said set it higher! What part of 'higher 'do you not bloody understand?!" I shouted.
"I—I'm trying—"
"Try harder then!"
Everything felt off today — my mood, my focus, everything.
And my team? God, they were testing my patience.
The words came out sharper than I meant, but I didn't care. The whole court felt like it was closing in on me. I needed to hit something, feel something.
"Can someone please learn how to set without fumbling fucking around like a damn fuck rookie?"
The girls exchanged awkward looks, but no one said anything. No one ever did when I was like this.
They knew better than to fuck around.
Another toss. Another spike.
Each hit came with a sharp burn in my arms — and in my chest. The harder I spiked, the louder the ache in my head got.
"Stel, maybe we take five—" Hanni started gently.
"I said again."
Her voice died off. The next ball went up, and I slammed it again.
The ball bounced off the floor and rolled to the far side of the court.
"Again," I ordered, wiping sweat from my forehead.
I've been saying 'fuck' too much lately.
But whatever. It's valid. With how things have been? Totally fucking valid.
People keep testing me. Pushing me. Acting like I won't snap.
God, it's always something. Always someone.
I swear, if one more fuck ass dumb shit happens, I'm actually gonna fucking lose i—
But before anyone could toss, the gym doors creaked open. Loud footsteps. Male voices.
Fucking hell great.
"Yo, volleyball court's free, right?" someone called.
And there he was. Sim fucking Jaeyun, basketball captain, all sweat and smirk, spinning a ball in his hand like he owned the place.
"Yo, mind sharing the space? Basketball court's out of bounds—our coach's orders."
And behind him, his entire damn team, looking like they owned the place.
I grabbed the ball near my feet and tossed it toward him — not hard, but not gently either.
"What, no other place in the whole campus?"
He caught it easily, spinning it with that stupid smirk. "Nah. Guess we're stuck with you."
"Stay out of the way," I muttered, turning back to my team.
"Would love to," he said, stepping further in, "but looks like someone's hogging all the space."
That did it.
I turned back around. "Excuse me?"
He gave a half-smile. "You've been spiking like you're tryna end someone's life. Maybe tone it down before you knock one of us out."
A couple of his teammates chuckled under their breath.
I could feel my blood boiling. "Then move out of the way. Problem solved."
