Jaeyun's pov

Oh this is going to be interesting.

I leaned back in my seat, twirling my pen as the teacher wrote "PAIR ACTIVITY" in all caps on the board.
Great. Group work. Everyone's favorite.

I glanced around the classroom, already knowing how this would go.

My usual guys? Not here. Advanced class wasn't exactly their scene. I could already picture Sunghoon making a face and saying, "Nerd."

I sighed, flicking my gaze across the room — and there she was.

Stella Kim.

Hair tied, sunlight framing her face perfectly, head leaned slightly toward Yunjin like they were about to pair up.

But then Yunjin turned, grinned, and walked toward someone else.

The hell.

I didn't hesitate.

"Yo," I said as I stepped up beside her desk.

She looked up slowly, already annoyed.

"What?"

I nodded toward the board. "Pair work. You're solo. I'm solo. Looks like fate."

"No," she replied flatly.

"No?" I raised an eyebrow. "You'd rather do it alone?"

Her jaw tightened slightly. I could see the calculation behind her eyes.

She didn't want to say yes. But she couldn't exactly say no.

"Fine," she muttered. "Just don't fuck up."

"Wouldn't dream of it." I dropped into the seat next to hers like I belonged there.

She scooted an inch away, and I smirked.

This was going to be fun.

Stella's pov

Why him out of anyone??  I literally can't believe Yunjin just ditched me like that for someone else. She's gonna get it from me later.

We opened the worksheet in silence. I stared at the first question, pretending to read it like I wasn't hyper-aware of him just existing next to me.

He leaned over a little, eyes scanning the question, "This is just conservation of energy. We find the initial potential energy and equate it to the kinetic."

I blinked.

He was right.

I hated that he was right.

I didn't reply, just started writing the equation down, jaw tight. He shifted slightly to get a better view of the paper, and his arm brushed mine.

I moved away a bit. Again.

His skin was so smooth.

Jake glanced at me. "You allergic to people or just me?"

I didn't even look up. "I'm allergic to your cockiness."

He chuckled under his breath, like that entertained him.

Of course it did.

I focused harder on the worksheet than I ever had in my life.

He stayed mostly quiet, occasionally offering actual help — which made it worse. Because now I had to admit he wasn't just here to annoy me.

He knew what he was doing.

And somehow, that annoyed me even more.
