Jaeyun's pov:
"Jake! My man!" Sunghoon called as I hopped off my bike and checked the time.
Eight minutes earlier than usual. Broke my record again.
"Sup," I said, walking beside him into the halls. As usual, all eyes were on us. I could hear the fangirls squealing while the guys just rolled their eyes. None of my damn business.
We headed toward our usual locker spot and spotted Jeehun and Leeho waiting. "You're early today. What's the occasion?" Jeehun smirked, always managing to piss me off.
"Shut u—" I started, but a voice interrupted me — smooth and familiar.
I looked up and saw the most stunning piece of art I'd ever laid eyes on.
I was probably overreacting, right?
But no.
It was Stella Kim, that hell of an overachiever everyone talked about. Yet something about her stood out—everyone else just blurred away. Her soft lips, that smile that could fix even the worst days, and those brown eyes—they caught mine before she turned and left.
"Uhhh, Earth to Jake?" Sunghoon snapped his fingers in front of me. I didn't budge.
Never before had I felt this way about any girl. Not once. What was it about her that grabbed me so damn hard?
"Jake!" Sunghoon shouted again before I finally snapped back.
I glanced after her as she disappeared, then looked back at Sunghoon.
"No way you have a thing for the volleyball captain," he teased, grinning and nudging me.
"Pfft, like I would. Besides, I can get her as easy as the others. No biggie," I said with an annoyed edge. Maybe I did have a thing for her.
"Oh really? Let's make a bet then," Leeho said, leaning against the lockers. "Make her fall for you, date her, ditch her. Simple, right?"
I looked at him like he was bluffing. "Just that? C'mon, I've done that millions of times. Consider it done."
Jeehun looked up from his phone. "I don't think it'll be that easy. Literally no one's been able to date her since the massive breakup two years ago." Well, that was unexpected.
"Then I'll be the first. It's that easy," I said, my pride burning.
"It's settled, then," Leeho said, shaking my hand as the bell rang.
Oh hell, this day's gonna be a long one.
