She scoffs and I tighten up, narrowing my eyes as she picks at her black nail polish. "Yeah I'm good. I don't need you two following me around to watch me." She air quotes the words, rolling her eyes and I lean forward. Brushing some hair out of her face.
"Well, if you change your mind." My hand lands on her thigh, her body tensing but not pushing me away as I slowly drag my hand up the side of her leg. Pulling her phone from her pocket and holding it up.
"What's your code?" She snatches the phone from my hand, muttering something about arrogant assholes when the waitress drops our food in front of us.
We eat silently, Serena pushing at her food while Zane and I scarf ours down.
She's still picking at her pancakes when Zane finishes up his burger, stretching out beside her and spreading his legs, pressing into her.
"So you think this guys just, following you for nothing?" He asks, and she eyes him suspiciously. Growling, she shoves her plate away completely.
"I don't know. I was hoping it's nothing, just some guy playing a stupid prank."
"If it were nothing, he wouldn't have followed you home. And sure as hell wouldn't be chasing you around with a knife. You know he's not going to stop, right sweetheart?"
Her eyes snap up, lips parting as she studies his face intently. "What, you think you two can do better than the cops?" Her voice is laced with annoyance, but something else too.
Her pulse is pounding while she tells us about the stalking, pupils wide and her thighs pressing together. She may act like it's only fear, but I know what she looks like when she's flustered.
I lean in, brushing her long hair over her shoulder and turning her to me. Her eyes meet mine, so icy and guarded. "The cops don't scare men like that, baby. But we can."
We finish up, paying and heading back to the car. She stays just outside of the door, arms crossed as she glares.
"What do you two get out of this, and why do you even care? You don't know me. I'm not someone people.." shaking her head, she rubs her hands over her arms and I step up slowly.
"We get to spend time with you. Be near you, protect you." She takes a step behind back and follow, not stopping until she's pressed against my car and caged in.
"Maybe we just don't like the idea of someone scaring our girl." Her breath shakes, her hands slowly pressing against my chest and I almost groan just from her hands on me.
Then, she shoves me back and says with an angry snarl, "I'm not your fucking girl. I'm no one's. I belong to me."
"We'll see about that." Zane quips, her eyes whipping to his full of venom. "Get in the car."

Serena
I stare up at my ceiling as the sun finally starts to rise. The air is cold, but not as cold as the blood in my veins.
My sheets are twisted around me, sleep never seemed to take me under. My mind racing with everything wrong going on in my life. It's Saturday, and I plan on spending most of my day lying in this bed.
I don't know what to do. Zane and Hayden offering to protect me is the last thing I thought would happen, and I still don't understand why.
