Chapter 5 - Basics in Behavior (3/3)

Start from the beginning

"Yeah, they were controlled! Not at their full strength."

"Obviously. How else would a regular ol' human take on five demi-humans? Not feasible according to my calculations."

"Stop trying to be Kevin. You want to be Kevin, but you can't be Kevin, because... Kevin is Kevin."

"...Who the hell is Kevin?"

The chatter continued, much to Mister Holmes' immediate annoyance once again. "HEY! I am really glad that you can all feel relaxed and at ease, but... God knows how many people died in this school already, get it? I won't tell you again-VACATE THE DAMN PREMESIS!!!"

The chatter quickly silenced.

"...In a neat and timely manner, please and thank you."

"...Kevin?" Engel exclaimed, seeing the school nerd standing right outside of one of the classroom doors as he ran by. He quickly stopped and did several takes back and forth to make sure they were truly alone. "What the hell are you doing, man? Hide! The cops are coming; as long as you wait it out here and hide, you should be okay."

Kevin folded his arms in indifference. "What? I don't care about that. I was looking for you."

Engel scrunched up his face in immense confusion. "...What? For me? Why the heck would you do that? Do you know what's going on right now? A bunch of teachers have gone all murder happy because of-"

"Alice, yes, yes, I am aware of the current circumstances surrounding the school's faculty. It is quite a bother, especially for my studies, but it is no matter... especially compared to what I have figured out recently," Kevin casually mentioned, leaning back against a classroom's door. "Naturally, it is about our mutual friend, Mister Rip Holmes. What I have come to realise is-"

"Kevin, listen. Do you really think any of that is fucking important right now? Do you know what's happening?!" Engel exclaimed, although he tried hushing himself as best as he could to not attract any potential teachers nearby. As interested as he was in who Mister Holmes really was, it was completely irrelevant and not worth discussing right now, and there was still no telling who was affected. "I don't think you heard me right. People are DYING. The teachers have been going on a rampage and all you care about is what's going on with fuckin' Mister Holmes? For all we know, he's tearing into the flesh of a student or something!"

"You do not seem to fathom the gravity of the situation, Engel Clementine-"

"I should be saying that to you!"

"Okay, okay, this back and forth will bring us nowhere," Kevin admitted, a bead of sweat visibly drawing down his forehead. "I will keep it as concise as possible. The town you discovered, Tanukhill, didn't simply go missing off the map or anything like that. It was, rather, destroyed. Although I'm hesitant to admit that I needed assistance, I received help from an... associate, and I was able to retrieve highly confidential files relating to the matter. Classified documents that would render me incarcerated the instant I was found with it."

"...Fine, keep going," Engel said, impatiently-he would be lying if he said he wasn't totally interested, however, but he had more pressing matters at hand. "What else?"

"It took some time to take off a couple of the redactions and censor bars, and I still couldn't even do all of them, but I was able to come up with a small amount of text along with an image," Kevin continued, raising his phone and tapping an image-it appeared his phone was somehow unaffected by the school's 'EMP'. He then held it up to Engel, who furrowed his brows. "Read and see."
