Pomni: "Are we just... chilling for this one? Can I finally relax?"

Jax: "Uh, I guess so. But, uh, I prefer a little bite to my adventures."

Kinger took a bite out of his sandwich and spoke to Jax with his nonexistent mouth full, "Then why don't you help yourself to a sangwidge?"

Pomni: "Sure, why not. Bye, guys."

Pomni gave Jax and Y/N a small wave as she made her way over to the others on the picnic blanket. Jax slowly sat up, turning his gaze over to Gangle. She was actually happy, she always was with Zooble. Y/N watched as well, happy that Gangle was getting along with Zooble.

Jax: "Do you think Gangle is actially capable of being happy?"

Y/N: "What?"

Jax: "I dunno. Like, her comedy mask still breaks every day. Does she think hanging out with Zooble is gonna magically fix that?"

Ragatha made her way over to the two of them, joining in their conversation, "Maybe she just doesn't wanna hang out with someone who's mean to her all the time."

Jax: "She likes when I'm mean to her, though! Like, Y/N. You like when I'm mean to you, right?"

Y/N: "...Sure..? But, I didn't think you cared about what other people like."

Jax: "That— I just... No yeah, y-you're right. I don't."

Y/N stared at Jax, curiousity rising inside of them, "...Do you have any... actual friends?"

Ragatha: "Not anymore."

Jax stiffened and perked up in anger as he stared at Ragatha. Ragatha's one eye widened as she attempted to change what she said.

Ragatha: "Oh— oh. Oh, wait, no! Uh, I'm— I'm sorry. I— I wasn't talking about— That- that wasn't meant to be- Uh- uh..."

Ragatha hastily made her way back over to the others, trying to make conversation with Kinger, "Hey, Kinger! Did you see the fireflies all the way over there?"

Kinger: "WHERE??"

Y/N edged closer to Jax ever so slightly, attempting to make conversation, "...What was that about?"

Jax: "It's... nothing. Who cares?" (I care😔💔)

Jax laid himself on the grass, Y/N doing the same. Y/N stared at the stars, glancing at Jax every so often.

Jax: "Doesn't she get on your nerves sometimes?"

Y/N: "I don't exactly know. I've never really talked to her that much at all."

Jax: "I don't know. I just- I think she tries way too hard. Like, we're stuck in- Why is she always pretending everything's always fine? Like, if you tell someone they're loved and appreciated every day, it just... kind of loses all meaning. It just feels like she's trying to take advantage of you, you know? I don't know."

Y/N sighed, a slight sympathetic look on their face. They scooted closer slightly, gaining Jax's attention.

Y/N: "I take it you don't really have any friends, from what Ragatha said earlier. You're gonna need someone to talk to, to place your trust in, and stuff."

Jax: "Is this you trying to befriend me, or something?"

Y/N: "I guess... I mean, if you want to be friends. I know we never really see eye to eye...but still. It's nice to have friends in this place."

Jax stared at Y/N in awe, a slight sparkle in his eyes. Y/N guessed this I was because he most likely didn't have that many friends, so it wasn't usual for someone to ask something like this.

Jax: "Wow...uh- Sure, I guess. It's whatever."

Y/N smiled slightly, turning her gaze back to the stars. It was quiet, the only noises being the distant chatter of the others and the sounds of nature. Until Jax sat up abruptly with a smirk.

Jax: "Also, she's dumb and she looks weird!"

Y/N: "Eh, I think we all look weird."

Jax: "Excuse you. This is what peak male performance looks like. My ears and tail are kind of the pinnacle of masculinity."

Y/N: "...You don't have a tail."

Jax: "What are you talking about?" Jax stood up, about to prove that he has a tail, "Yes I do, it's..." he looked back, only to realise that he lacked a tail. "What the?! Where's my tail?? How long have I not had my tail??"

Y/N chuckled, an amused smirk forming on their face, "I have never seen you with a tail."

Jax sat back down, shocked and confused.

Jax: "When would that have even..."

Y/N: "Maybe R/N ate your tail because she's so obsessed."

R/N: "WHAT????"

Y/N: "I said you're annoying."

R/N: ">:0"

Y/N snickered, staring down at the soft grass and brushing their hand against it gently. Jax watched them do so with a small smile, not a smug smirk, but a genuine smile. He was happy he had now made one friend, even if it was his "nemesis"...
