Episode 20
Jack's eyes were fixed on Alex's lifeless body, his mind numb with grief. Rachel's voice echoed in his ears, but he couldn't respond.
Suddenly, Rachel grabbed his arm and pulled him away from Alex's body. "We have to go, Jack. We can't stay here."
Jack's legs felt like lead, but he forced himself to move. They made their way back to their car, avoiding the guards and security cameras.
As they drove away from the headquarters, Jack's grief gave way to anger. He pounded his fist on the dashboard, feeling a surge of rage and helplessness.
"We should have protected him," Jack said, his voice cracking with emotion. "We should have been more careful."
Rachel's eyes were fixed on the road, but Jack could see the sadness in her eyes. "We did what we could, Jack. We can't blame ourselves."
But Jack knew that he would never forgive himself for Alex's death. He had let his friend down, and now Alex was gone.
As they drove, Jack's phone buzzed. It was Victoria, calling to check in.
"What's happening?" Victoria asked, her voice concerned.
Jack's voice was barely above a whisper. "Alex is dead. We got ambushed."
There was a pause on the other end of the line. "I'm so sorry, Jack. I'll do everything I can to help you take down the organization."
Jack's anger and grief boiled over. "We'll get them, Victoria. We'll make them pay for what they did to Alex."
To be continued...
