Episode 16
The figure stepped into the dim light, and Jack's eyes widened in shock. It was Alex, his old partner and friend. Jack thought Alex had been killed in a mission gone wrong, but here he was, standing in front of him.
"Alex?" Jack's voice was barely above a whisper.
Alex's eyes locked on Jack's, and a small smile played on his lips. "Jack. It's been a long time."
Rachel's eyes darted between Jack and Alex, confusion etched on her face. "Who is this?" she asked, her voice cautious.
Jack's eyes never left Alex's. "This is Alex. My partner. My friend."
Alex's smile grew wider. "Used to be, Jack. Used to be."
The tension between them was palpable, and Jack could sense that something was off. "What are you doing here, Alex?" Jack asked, his voice firm.
Alex's eyes locked on Jack's. "I've been watching you, Jack. I've been waiting for you to figure out the truth."
Rachel's eyes narrowed. "What truth?"
Alex's eyes flicked to Rachel's. "The truth about Sophia, about LaGraine, about the game you're playing."
Jack's mind reeled as he tried to process what Alex was saying. "What do you know, Alex?" Jack asked, his voice low.
Alex's smile faltered, and for a moment, Jack saw a glimmer of sadness in his eyes. "I know more than you think I do, Jack. And I'm here to help you."
But Jack's instincts screamed at him to be cautious. What was Alex's true motive? Was he friend or foe?
To be continued...
