"Oi, Harry!"

He's been kind of avoiding me—and I have absolutely no clue why.

It's been exactly one week since we got back. One. Hell. Of. A. Week.

And not in the fun, Weasleys-set-off-a-firework-in-the-dorm kind of way.

Apparently, someone—or something—opened the damn Chamber of Secrets. Yeah, that Chamber. Capital C, capital chaos.

Now there's a monster on the loose, and it's got a thing for petrifying students.

Muggle-borns and half-bloods, to be specific.

The only ones not panicking are the purebloods. Must be nice, walking around like you're not on the endangered species list.

The rest of us? We're clinging to our lives and to each other. No one moves alone anymore. Groups only. Buddy system. Preferably armed with at least one overly enthusiastic Gryffindor.

The teachers are practically barricading the dangerous corridors, and they've been shadowing us like overprotective hippogriffs.

Hogwarts was supposed to be the safest place in the world. But between the whole "mysterious monster hunting down students" situation and the whispers of Voldy Baby making a comeback...

Yeah. Not feeling particularly safe right now.

I mean, I'm much safer than others, give the tribrid thing and the malfoy blood but—if voldy's after me I gotta be careful.

Not for me but for the promise i made to dad.

"You're not going back."
Dad said it without blinking, eyes locked on mine like they were trying to etch the words into my soul.
I'd just finished telling him about the whole Malfoy family reunion chaos.
And him and Care? Yeah. They made it very clear—they didn't want me anywhere near that castle again.

"I want to, Dad." I met his eyes, steady.
"Nope." Care cut in before he could even respond.
Sharp. Final. The kind of 'no' that sounded like a slammed door.

Regulus, bless his poor spine, had been catching strays left and right—
"Why did you even tell her about Hogwarts if you knew what it held?"
Honestly? I was asking the same thing.

Why introduce me to magic, to wonder, to home...
If they never intended to let me claim it?

But then came the dinner with Narcissa.
And suddenly, it all made sense.

The Black cousins—Regulus, Sirius, Andromeda, Bellatrix even Narcissa herself all of them—they were never given a choice.
Not in their beliefs.
Not in their loyalties.
Hell, not even in their bloody electives.
Everything was chosen for them.

But my parents?
My dad and my Care?
They're different.
They're the kind of protectors who would lie to my face if it meant saving me from pain.
The kind who would hold the world at wandpoint just to make sure I'm breathing.

And honestly? I don't mind.
It's easier that way—
Let them shield me.
Let them be my armor.
So I don't have to face things I'm not ready to.

"I want to, Dad," I said again, voice quieter now, but unwavering.

"Nope." Care repeated, arms crossed, as unmoving as a statue.
She hadn't even agreed the first time. And this time? Not a chance.
