She clutched her bag, her heart skipping a beat. It wasn’t the first rich home she had entered… but this one felt different.
Colder. Heavier. Like it carried secrets.
“Just be professional, Arya. Teach, and leave.”
She smiled as Aarush ran to her.
Aarush came running the moment he saw her.
Aarush (dramatic pout): “Ma’am! You’re five minutes late! That means I don’t have to do spelling today!”
Arya (folding arms): “Rules don’t work like that, mister.”
Meanwhile Veeransh was descending the stairs while talking on the phone.
His voice, cold and commanding,
Veeransh (on call): “I don’t care if they back out. We’ll buy the shares and dismantle them.”
He stopped mid-sentence,His eyes landed on a girl in a pale blue salwar suit, kneeling beside Aarush, tying his shoelace — her back to him.
Something about her felt... out of place here.
Veeransh(to Priya, confused): “Who is she?”
Priya: “Arya. Aarush’s new tutor.”.....
Aarush (mischievously): “Then I’ll tell Chachu to fire you!”
Before Arya could respond, a voice cut through the air like frost on glass.
Veeransh (dryly): “Already giving threats, Aarush? I’m impressed.”
Arya turned,
Veeransh stood at the doorway, arms crossed, eyes locked on her. Charcoal suit. Watch glinting. Gaze unreadable.
Arya (calmly): “Good afternoon, sir.”
Veeransh(without blinking): “Let’s see if you teach better than you dress.”
Arya felt the sting of the insult, but said nothing. Instead, she smiled softly at Aarush.
Arya (lightly): “Your uncle thinks suits make you smart. Now imagine what reading can do.”
Veeransh raised a brow. Aarush blinked.
Advik, passing by, nearly choked on his coffee, hiding a smirk.
Aarush: “Chachu! Be nice. She’s helping me with maths.”
veeransh looked away, hiding the flicker of discomfort on his face.
She walked inside with Aarush, feeling his hand wrapped around hers — safe, innocent.
But she felt the heat of Veeransh’s gaze trailing her like a shadow.
She could feel him watching.
“What’s his problem? Arrogant. Rich. Distant. Definitely dangerous.”
Still… her hands trembled a little as she opened Aarush’s workbook.
Inside the study, as she taught him, she could hear his footsteps outside.
Pacing. Back and forth.
veeransh paced in his room upstairs.
veeransh (to himself): “Why does her voice still echo? Why the hell do I remember her eyes?”
He poured himself a glass of water but didn’t drink it.
Something was off.
veeransh(muttering): “She’s just a tutor. A staff member. She doesn’t matter.”
But no matter how many times he said it, the image stayed burned into his mind.
The quiet confidence. The way Aarush looked at her. The way he had looked at her.
Aarush’s Study Room
Arya helped Aarush with fractions while Veeransh stood outside the door, talking on the phone. Occasionally, his eyes flicked toward her — the way she leaned in with patience, how Aarush clung to her like comfort.
Suddenly, Aarush messed up his sums and yelled:
Aarush: “This is so boring! I quit!”
Arya: “No quitting in my class. You signed a contract — remember your little pinky promise?”
Aarush (groaning): “I revoke it!”
Just then, Veeransh stepped in.
Veeransh(dry): “Revoke it? You sound like a corporate lawyer.”
Arya(without looking up): “Maybe he learned it from someone who revokes basic courtesy too.”
Veeransh stared.
Veeransh(cold smile): “You’ve got a sharp tongue for a teacher.”
Arya(shrug): “And you’ve got a cold heart for a human.”
Aarush, between them, blinked.
Aarush (laughing): “Are you both fighting or flirting? I can’t tell.”
Veeransh’s eyes widened, Arya turned red,
Advik burst into a loud laugh from the hallway.
Later, Priya invited Arya in for tea to meet the family.
Dadi (Sumitra Devi Rathore)
Ganga (Manik’s mother)
swati (Advik’s mother)
Advik (calm and observing)
And of course, Veeransh, sitting on the sofa, checking emails and occasionally glancing up — irritated but too intrigued.
Dadi (warmly): “So you’re the famous Arya who finally made Aarush enjoy studies. Sit, beta. Have tea.”
Yamuna: “What a calm girl. So soft-spoken. Are you from Delhi?”
Nandini: “No ma’am, born in jaipur. Raised… here and there.”
Ganga (raising a brow): “Parents?”
Nandini (smiling, eyes lowered): “Not around anymore.”
The air tensed slightly. But Priya, sensing it, jumped in.
Priya: “She teaches at our school. The kids adore her.”
Dadi: “Even Aarush listens to her. That's a miracle.”
From the corner, Veeransh muttered without looking up:
Veeransh: “Miracles usually come with side effects.”
Arya(softly): “So do trust funds.”
Silence,
Advik coughed to hide his laugh. Priya's eyes widened
Upstairs Balcony –
evening
Arya left after her session. Aarush waved from the window.
Veeransh stood on the balcony above, hands in his pockets, watching her walk down the driveway.
“Middle class, Orphan, Tutor, But she doesn’t shrink.”
“What the hell are you?”
He took a sip of his black coffee, lips tightening.
He didn’t like how often he thought of her already.
And he hated how she made him feel less like a king... and more like a man.
