I didn't expect much when Connor Sharpe followed me back.
Just some random notification while hanging out with my best friend.
But one simple "hi" turns into something neither of us saw coming.
A couple of years apart, different grades, and a millio...

I hesitated for a second, then slowly unlocked the door and cracked it open. Connor stood there, one hand on the doorframe, the other shoved in his hoodie pocket. His eyes scanned my face like he was trying to read every emotion I wasn't showing.
"Can I come in for a sec?" he asked quietly.
I paused, then nodded.
He stepped inside without another word, and just before the door clicked shut behind him, I heard the soft, unmistakable click of the lock turning.
My heart jumped.
I turned to face him, my back gently pressed against the cold sink counter. "You just locked the door," I said, voice way calmer than how I felt.
"Yeah," he replied, eyes still on me. "Figured you didn't want Laura walking in again."
Fair point.
I raised an eyebrow. "This is a bathroom."
He shrugged, stepping closer. Not too close, but closer than before. "We've had deeper conversations in weirder places."
I let out a soft laugh, but it didn't quite reach my eyes. "Did you need something, or...?"
He didn't answer right away. Instead, he leaned against the opposite wall, crossing his arms. "Yeah. I needed to ask you something."
My mouth went a little dry.
"...Are you and Aiden a thing?"
I blinked. Hard. "What?"
"You two were... close earlier," he said. "During the game. Then the hug, and-look, I'm not trying to sound jealous, okay?"
I tilted my head. "You sound jealous."
He sighed and looked down at the tiled floor. "I know."
The silence between us stretched, filling the small space with something heavier than words.
"I'm not with Aiden," I said finally. "It was a hug. We were celebrating a win. You do that in games."
Connor looked like he wanted to believe me, but his jaw tensed. "It's just... I don't know what we're doing, Y/N."
That made two of us.
"You dared me to let you kiss me," I said, my voice a little quieter now. "And then Laura walked in, and- Do you like her?"
His head snapped up so fast I almost laughed.
"What? No. God, no."
"Then why do you let her hang on you like that?" I asked. "Why don't you stop her?"
He ran a hand through his hair. "Because if I make it obvious I don't want her like that, she'll know something's up. People talk. Jake talks. Aiden talks. And I wasn't ready to explain."
