I didn't expect much when Connor Sharpe followed me back.
Just some random notification while hanging out with my best friend.
But one simple "hi" turns into something neither of us saw coming.
A couple of years apart, different grades, and a millio...
Jake leaned forward, full of mischief. "I dare you to... text your mom and ask if penguins have knees."
We all burst out laughing. Yumi didn't even hesitate, she typed the message, hit send, and held up her phone like a trophy.
"Okay, my turn," she said, spinning the bottle.
It slowed... slowed... and landed on me.
"Oh god," I muttered.
Yumi's grin widened. "Truth or dare?"
I hesitated. I could feel Connor shift beside me. "Truth."
Yumi raised a brow. "Do you like someone in this room?"
Silence.
I stared at her, wide-eyed. "Are you serious?"
Jake whistled lowly. "This got good real fast."
My face was burning. I wanted to melt into the carpet. "That wasn't even subtle."
Yumi shrugged, smug. "I don't do subtle."
I glanced at Connor briefly,he was pretending to be very interested in a thread on the rug.
"...Maybe," I mumbled.
Yumi gasped. "That's not a no!"
Connor let out a low chuckle.
Laura clapped. "This game is so much better than Netflix."
We went around again. Embarrassing dares, more ridiculous truths. Jake had to sing a Disney song. Aidan admitted he once cried during Finding Nemo. Laura confessed she had a crush on a teacher last year.
Then the bottle pointed to Connor.
Aidan asked, "Truth or dare, little brother?"
Connor made a show of sighing. "Truth."
Aidan smirked. "Have you ever fallen for someone you weren't supposed to?"
Connor looked down. Just briefly. Then up. Right at me.
"Yeah," he said softly.
And suddenly, my heart was racing again.
I didn't say anything. No one did. But the silence felt like it was wrapped in static.
We played a few more rounds, but things had slowed.
Eventually, Laura yawned dramatically. "Okay, I need a couch and like twelve pillows."
"Guest room for you," Aidan said. "Jake, come help me set some stuff up."
They both left the room. Yumi gave me a look and followed. "I'll help too."
That left just me and Connor.
Alone.
Again.
I looked at him, hugging my knees to my chest. "You didn't really answer that truth, you know."
He leaned back on his palms, tilting his head. "Didn't I?"
I shook my head slowly. "You said yes. But you didn't say who."
He raised a brow. "Do I have to?"
I held his gaze. "Maybe."
He didn't say anything. Just stood, walked slowly over to where I sat on the floor, and knelt in front of me.
The air between us tightened.
Then he spoke, voice barely above a whisper.
"You know, earlier... when Marcus helped you on the skateboard? I hated it."
I blinked. "Why?"
"Because I wanted it to be me," he said simply.
I felt like every molecule in my body had gone still. Frozen.
"You barely know me," I whispered.
He smiled, not breaking eye contact. "Then let me."
And then, from the hallway, Yumi's voice: "Y/N! You're sleeping in Connor's room since that's the only option left for you"
I felt myself slowly blushing.
I looked at Connor and told him to lead the way. I followed him down the hall, a soft smile tugging at my lips.
As we reached his room, I paused at the door. He stepped past me and turned, looking down at me.
"Truth or dare?" he asked suddenly.
I raised a brow. "Now?"
He nodded. "Just one more."
"Fine. Dare."
"I dare you to let me kiss you."
I blinked.
