Then it's all gone by the minute you fully wake up and remember everything.

I just thought to myself that I really didn't like Matthew, that would be ridiculous. I was hurt because maybe he found a better companion than me.

I decide not to over think about it, did what I usually did in the morning and continued with life.

I hear my mom's nervous voice talking to the phone when I went down the stairs. She looks around, notices me and hangs up abruptly.

"Hello, sweetheart. How long have you been there?" She forces a smile.

"Not long. Who was that?" I raise my eyebrow at her.

"Nobody! Absolutely nobody at all." She said all too quickly.

"Okay?" I peruse, not believing her.

I wonder what's happening.

Arriving from my weekend activities, I walk into the house and stop abruptly when I see another familiar person in the living room. All the past painful years that had passed came running back to my head.

My dad had changed before, leading to his divorce with mom, Linda. He frequently went home drunk and would act crazy that he would even sometimes hit me and mom and now he was in our living room, talking to mom.

What the hell?

"Sweetheart, it's fine. He just," Mom started but before she could continue her sentence, I just ran out to go to the park.

As I was running, with angry tears daring to spill from the edges of my eyes, forcing them back, I accidentally bumped into someone for looking at the ground instead of where I was going, making me stumble a bit and stop.

I kept on mumbling a sorry, shaking my head a bit, still looking at the ground.

"Amelia, what happened? Are you okay?" A familiar voice say as I feel a comforting hand on my shoulder.

It was Matt.

"Why would you even care about me?!" I snap at him.

Shock was evident on his face but he calmly replied, "Why wouldn't I? You know it pains me to see you hurt."

Ha. He actually said that.

"Well whatever." I wave him off, now walking instead of running to the park.

I seated at the park bench, in deep thought. Matt was the only person to know about my problem. I suddenly regret snapping at him. I needed someone. Emotions truly are hard to control at times, aren't they?

"Amelia?" His voice suddenly appeared.

"What?" I said in an exhausted tone.

"Will you tell me what happened to you?"

"My dad was there."

His face enlightened with understanding and he just hugged me, trying to comfort me.

"It's not your problem anyway." I tell him coldly.

"But you know I care for you."

"Whatever. You can go caring about Jane instead of me anyway." I muttered silently.

"What?" He said, sounding amused.

He heard that?!

"Nothing."

"I know it's something Amelia. Tell me."

"It's nothing, really. Don't mind it." I said, flashing a fake smile at him. He didn't buy it, but decided to let it go.

"If you say so. You want to hang out today?"

"I'll just stay here in the park."

"Then a hang out in the park it is." He said, trying to cheer me up.

We stayed there for almost an hour talking about random stuff, like we usually do before. I start to feel alright again.

"So, you and Jane are together now, huh?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Okay. I'm happy for you then." I say. "Just make sure she isn't the reason why you haven't talked to me for a long time." I add, in a joking manner.

"She's not." He assured, grinning. "You want me to walk you home?" He added, obviously thinking we should go home already.

"Okay." I smile.

Lawrence, my so called 'dad' already left the house when I came and I decide not to talk to mom tonight.

As I was lying on my bed, waiting for sleep to overcome me, my phone buzzed.

Thanks for the time today. I missed you. Good night.

A smile was tugging at my lips. I shake my head and type a quick reply. I was just happy that we had our fun best friend relationship back.

Thanks for comforting me. You really helped a lot. Good night.

I press send, close my eyes and then drifted to sleep smiling.
