You looked at Steve. You were both wearing the outfit You needed to go and travel through time. You just went to Tony's funeral and you and Steve decided to put back the infinity stones.

You and Steve had been Avengers for years. There was always something between you two. For yours you tried to make him feel at home and make him forget about his ex but until now nothing happened yet.

You were always there for him. You stayed an Avenger for him. You risked your life saving his, you always stuck by his side. You made him happy when he was sad, you had deep conversations about his life with him. You tried to treat him the best you could.

''Ready?'' He asked you.

''Yeah!'' You smiled.

You looked at Banner who was behind the machine and smiled.

''After this we can finally leave all of this behind us.'' You smiled.

Steve looked at the floor for a moment. You put on your helmet and walked towards him. You actually wanted to confess your love to him. You needed him to know.

''Y/N, I think that after we're done.. I'm going to return to Peggy.''

The smile you had immediately dropped. Still? After all these years.. After everything you had done for him. You took of your helmet and put it under your arm.

''What?'' You asked.

''I'm going back to her.''

You looked at him. Suddenly your mind just started panicking. That would mean he would return as a 100 year old guy. That meant you would never get to spend any good moments with him anymore.

''What if I told you not to do it?'' You asked him.

You felt yourself choking up. You tried to swallow to get rid of the building sadness. You didn't want to loose him.

''Y/N, even though I will return older.. we can still be friends.''

''Friends..'' You grinned. ''It's not about that.''

You pushed your helmet into his arms. You didn't want to go to return the stones with him anymore.

''What is it about?'' Steve asked.

You turned around to him. Tears stinging in your eyes.

''I-I'm in love with you. I've always been.'' You choked. ''I've tried so hard to make you feel at home here. I've done so much for you. I had an incredible opportunity on a job somewhere else but I stayed an Avenger to be with you. To support you. I've saved your life, I've done everything..''

You wiped away the tear that ran down your cheek. You knew that he had already made up his mind and that this wasn't going to change anything.

''Y/N-''

'"All I've even wanted.. all I tried to be was enough. But it's always been her. I was just stupid to think that you could ever love someone else." You sniffed while wiping more tears away. ''You go do that. It was fun while it lasted. It was nice knowing you. I'll never forget it."
