The moonlight caught the faintest blush on her cheeks, and then-her smile bloomed. Bright, vulnerable, and full of something too large for words.
"Good," she said, cupping his cheek. "Because I'm never letting you go, ever."
"Even if there were someone better than me?" Y/N closed his eyes, "I will say it again, no matter what. I do not doubt any of yours faith and affection."
"But I worry… would any of you really continue to spend eternity with damaged goods like me—"
"I don't want to hear the whole 'I am just a fox with no home' spiel again." He blinked as his words were cut off immediately, as Moona pressed herself to her partner, her purple eyes staring deep to his, "Do you truly think our love is that shallow?"
"That Omegaα would dump you just because someone else shares your tragic backstory but with emo-appearance?"
"That I—after the fake marriage prank, after you tricked me and the others into Hololive—would call all of this nothing?" Moon— No, rather the real self; Hoshinova the Lunar itself is pissed.
And Y/N grimaced at his mistake.
Her tone wasn't fierce. It wasn't even playful. It was sure-unshakable in the way mountains were born and moons refused to fall. A quiet promise only lovers shared, the kind that doesn't need oaths or heaven's witness.
"I'm..." Y/N stopped as he appeared contemplating on the question, and then.. He looked at her—really looked at Moona.
"Sorry.."
She simply sees through him-and somehow that tamed him more than any deaths he lived.
"..it will never be enough for me to hear it, no matter how many times it was repeated.." The fox nuzzled her palm close to his cheek, as Hoshinova finally calmed herself again.
'I don't want this.. To ever end...' He thought silently.
Y/N then shifted, his fox ears twitching once before flattening in comfort. He set the cup down, and without ceremony, laid his head in her lap.
She made no protest. Only stroked his hair, slow and gentle. Her fingers threaded through the snowy white strands, her other hand resting atop one of his nine tails that curled around him like a blanket of warmth.
Under the moonlight-her light- the fox god rested his head in her lap, tail curled in peace.
Mischief, could wait.
Melancholy and regret, will put to rest under a Moonlight's oath.
As Y/N slowly drifts away, a soft melodious tune enters his ears, he felt the need to open his eyes — But a quiet assurance put his desire to rest, as a gentle palm caressed his head like a mother would.
And.. Perhaps. He doesn't need to.. All he need is.. To dream.
Yes, dream. With his wife.
