"Andrew Carter, a local teen, found dead at four o'clock this morning. The body was discovered by a teen whose identity has been requested to stay undisclosed. The body was identified by local policeman who found his drivers license and other belongings nearby. The killer has not been identified but information leading to the arrest is much appreciated. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Carter family, and friends of Andrew who will miss him very deeply."
I hear the news and almost don't want to believe it. I know it's my fault. My selfishness, my fear. He always said that I was his sun, the light in his escape from the labyrinth of the life he's been living, but like Icarus he flew too close. The wax from his wings leaves burns on his perfect skin. The boy that I was afraid to love, falling with no one there to save him.
What's worse is that he was happy to let it happen.
Smiling all the way down.
