My throat felt dry and I was in desperate need for water. I got out of bed and walked over to the door of my cabin, opened it and walked outside. I sprinted across the camp to the middle where the bonfire always was and sat down on a log. I took a deep breath and ran a hand through my short blonde hair. My eyes closed and reopened again, only to land upon a tray that stood further away from me. A water bottle and a glass where upon it.
I grabbed the water bottle and glanced at the glass. Shrugging, I opened the bottle and chugged down the water.
"What are you doing up?" A voice spoke up, startling me which resulted in me choking on the water.
A hand gently patted my back as I tried to steady my breathing and stop the coughing. My head turned to my left, only to meet Peter's emerald green eyes. They looked exactly like mine!
"I didn't mean to startle you." He sort of apologized.
I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath as I leaned backwards slightly, my face looking up at the sky but my eyes were closed.
"What are you doing up?" Peter asked again.
I let out a sigh.
"Woke up because of a nightmare again." I spoke up for the first time.
"Again?" Peter sounded surprised.
"Mh-hm." I hummed.
Silence surrounded us. I opened my eyes to look at Peter who had a confused expression on his face. He needed an explanation.
"Yeah, I've uh...I've been having these weird nightmares every now and then. They're all different but still have the same person...or, thing in them. It's really creepy." I explained.
"I don't understand." Peter commented.
I sighed and sat up straighter.
"Well...there is this shadow which appears every time. It scares the crap out of me with it's evil purple and weird glowing eyes. I wake up sweating, gasping, sometimes even screaming." I replied.
Peter listened intently, seeming interested and thoughtful.
"How long have you been having these dreams?" He questioned.
"Pff...I don't know...Ever since I was younger but they've multiplied themselfes, I guess but they're mostly nightmares." I answered.
Why was I telling him all these things? He could use this information against me, we were on an island made of dreams after all. He could blackmail me or worse...
"And how old are you again?" Peter asked.
"Eighteen, why?" I replied suspiciously.
"Just curious. Do these nightmares have anything else in common besides that weird....shadow?" Peter continued to throw questions at me and I knew I had to keep my guards up.
"No. I don't know, maybe. But it's nothing to worry about, I'm fine." I quickly replied.
"I think I'll go back to bed. Goodnight." And with those last words being said, I stood up and walked back to my cabin.
Phew! That was close! I thought as I closed the door behind me, leaning against it.
My eyes felt droopy and I couldn't find the strength to stand up and move to my bed. And before I knew it, sleep had once again, taken over.
*~*~*~*~*
The sound of someone knocking on the door slightly pulled me out of my deep sleep.
