Sooyoung

⋆⋆⋆

You don't know what could be better than this.

Clear skies above you, a warm, fresh breeze tangling itself in your hair as you lean back against a soft blanket laid out underneath a large oak tree, whose branches dangle gently above you. You sigh in contentment, the smell of fresh flowers lingering in the air and the song of the babbling brook calming your nerves. The soft glow of the sun flushes your cheeks and only grows warmer as the serene view above you is replaced by an even better one.

Sooyoung's bright eyes glitter in amusement as she suddenly leans over you, her hair tickling your cheeks. You tilt your head at her sudden appearance, smiling inwardly at the way her dazzling smile turns her cheeks a rosy pink hue.

Sooyoung has been your girlfriend for about two years. You still remember the first day the two of you met and the very same dazzling smile that had your heart at her feet before she even had the chance to say hello. As different as night and day, you couldn't have ever imagined that she felt the same way about you, and were content to spend the rest of your days admiring her from afar.

Clearly, fate, and Sooyoung's assertive nature, had other plans.

"What is it?" you ask, a giddy giggle tickling the back of your throat at the sight of her so close. She rolls her eyes at your clueless question, gesturing to the scenic view, as though trying to make a point you still have not grasped.

"I told you."

"Told me what?" you hum, absentmindedly playing with the ends of her hair that continue to tickle your face. You twirl them around your fingertips as Sooyoung sighs in exasperation above you.

"I told you," she says pointedly, much to your chagrin, "that you'd like this."

She sighs, flopping against your chest, quite dramatically, the ends of her hair slipping out of your fingertips. Her arms quickly find their rightful place around your midsection as she cuddles into your side.

"I told you you'd like coming out here, but you didn't believe me." She mumbles sulkily against the space between your neck and collarbone, the feeling of her lips brushing against your skin sending shivers down your spine.

You swallow hard and shake your head, refusing to fall for her pouting.

"No, I believed you," you chastise, shaking her playfully as you wrap your arms around her in turn. She laughs in surprise, smacking at you to release her but you hold on tighter, pressing multiple tender kisses all over her face in adoration. "I was just worried that it might rain."

She scoffs, glaring up at you after your affection attack. "Likely story."

"It's true!"

"Okay, well, how's that rain coming along, darling?"

You roll your eyes at her sarcasm, turning your attention back to the clear skies above you. You want to feel a sense of betrayal towards the good weather, but cannot find it within you to do so. After all, the incorrect forecast led to a lovely picnic spent with your girlfriend, your belly and heart full. One, on the lunch she carefully packed for the two of you, and the other full and racing with love and adoration.

Just as it always is whenever Sooyoung is by your side.

She peers up at you now, chuckling at the goofy grin that refuses to remove from your lips, and raising her hand to squeeze them together as she redirects your attention from the sky to her once more. She fixes you with a feigned disappointment, raising her brow at your bewildered expression.
