REVEN (POV)
The shadows of the city were his comfort zone. Hidden corners. Smoky rooftops. The way silence spoke louder than words ever could. And tonight, it whispered one name over and over again.
Aria.
He watched her window from the building across the street, hood drawn low, cigarette forgotten between his fingers. He hated that he was doing this. Hated that he couldn’t stop. But ever since that night at the dive bar, something inside him refused to let her go.
She didn’t know who he was. Not really.
Not the things he’d done.
Not the people he’d buried.
But she’d looked at him like he wasn’t a monster.
And for the first time in years, he didn’t want to be one.
His burner phone buzzed. One of his old contacts from the underworld. A warning.
“They’re sniffing around again. The girl’s dad stirred old ghosts. You better decide fast if she’s worth the firestorm.”
Reven crushed the cigarette under his boot.
Worth it?
She was the only thing that felt real.
He turned his gaze back to her window. The curtain fluttered. Just a glimpse of her silhouette pacing the room. Her hair, a curtain of black waves, tangled in her fingers. She was thinking about him. He could feel it.
He typed one word and hit send.
Moonlight.
Then disappeared into the night like smoke.
ARIA (POV)
Aria lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. The single word message blinked on her phone screen.
"Moonlight."
No name. No explanation.
Just that same electric, addictive mystery.
Was it insane to feel safer because someone was watching her? Probably. But it didn’t feel dangerous. It felt... magnetic. Like a pull she didn’t know how to resist—or if she even wanted to.
She closed her eyes, clutching the necklace she wore beneath her shirt. Not the heart-shaped one he’d sent. A different one. An old charm from childhood. A reminder of the world before it got complicated.
Still, her thoughts tangled with shadows, guitars, and the echo of a voice she couldn’t forget.
She didn’t know his name.
But she knew his presence.
And somehow, she knew...
He’d be back.
