TIME SKIP

The late afternoon breeze was crisp as Kyung stepped out of the café, stretching her arms after hours of studying.

Seulgi followed closely behind, stuffing her hands into her pockets.

Outside, Yeri was leaning against the wall, casually vaping as she scrolled through her phone.

She looked up at the sound of the door opening and immediately broke into a small smile.

"Well, look who finally escaped from nerd hell," she teased, waving at Seulgi.

Seulgi pressed her lips together in a tight line, nodding once before adjusting the strap of her bag.

"See you later, Kyung," she mumbled before heading off in the opposite direction.

Kyung watched Seulgi walk away, a thoughtful look crossing her face.

When she turned back to Yeri, she noticed the smirk forming on her friend's lips.

"What?" Kyung asked, narrowing her eyes.

Yeri exhaled a small cloud of vapor before grinning.

"Nothing," she drawled. "Just funny how you're suddenly so invested in Seulgi's well being."

Kyung scoffed. "She's a classmate. I'm helping her catch up."

"Uh huh." Yeri arched a brow, clearly unconvinced. "You like her, don't you?"

Kyung let out a dry laugh, shaking her head. "You're ridiculous."

"Am I?" Yeri tilted her head, eyes glinting mischievously. "You're acting just like someone with a little crush. Next thing I know, you'll start buying her coffee and sending her notes."

Kyung rolled her eyes but felt heat rising to her cheeks. "You're so annoying."

Yeri chuckled, tossing an arm around Kyung's shoulder. "Relax, nerd. I'm just messing with you."

Kyung sighed but allowed herself to be pulled along. "Where are we even going?"

"Shopping," Yeri said, her tone light. "You're buying me something pretty as an apology for making me wait."

Kyung shook her head with a small smile. "You're insufferable."

"And you love it," Yeri shot back, leading the way down the street.

Kyung let out a soft chuckle, following Yeri down the street.

But her thoughts were still occupied with Seulgi.

It was strange how something so simple, like helping her catch up with notes, felt like a little thread pulling her closer to Seulgi's orbit.

Yeri, of course, didn't let it go.

She was always like this, poking at things Kyung wasn't ready to face, and right now, she was definitely poking at Kyung's own confusion.

"You're thinking too much again," Yeri said casually, pulling Kyung out of her thoughts. "Don't tell me you're actually deciding what kind of coffee you'll get her next time."

Kyung groaned, pushing Yeri's arm off her shoulder.

"I'm not deciding anything," she muttered, though the teasing tone in her voice betrayed her. "I'm just- whatever. It's not a big deal."
