When graduating high school in America, Kaneko Kira, a 19 year old girl from Denver, decides to move back to Japan to study in the prestigious university, the Japan National University of Arts. One day she is heading off apartment hunting and bumps into Matsuba Shiro, a 20 year old guy with a very rude attitude. She then meets Hamasaki Kei from her class who is a 19 year old guy with a very adorable personality. They later become best friends. Besides her efforts to find an apartment she ends up having to sleep on a park bench. Sakaguchi Akihiko, a 20 year old guy from the same university as her, was walking his puppy, Dots, and sees her sleeping on the bench. She then explains her situation then Akihiko offers her a place to live with him and his roomates. It turns out that his roomates were Shiro and Kei. Three boys and one girl under the same roof. The story of Sugar bean, Brownie, Black licorice and Lollipop.
