XI. The Act of Plotting.

Start from the beginning

Hakeem turned his head toward her, his brows furrowing. "Hm?" He asked, his voice was light but curious.

"Nothing." Sailym mumbled quickly, her face heating up. Then, redirecting the attention off herself, she glanced at Kasim. "What you needed to talk about, bae?"

Kasim glared at her, seeing right through her attempt to pass the heat onto him. He was just glad he'd gotten high before having to explain anything.

"Aight, I just want to let it be known, I apologize for kissing you without your consent, me not knowing if you would've felt some type of way," Kasim started off with apologizing. Though he didn't regret doing it, he just should've asked first, and now he knows next time.

"You coo'―and you knew?" Hakeem accepted the apology and turned towards Sailym, asking the question. Sailym nodded her head and leaned into Kasim.

"Fuck allat' you like us?" Sae lifted her head and smacked Kasim's chest, slightly upset that he presented it that way.

Hakeem was slightly taken back by the question. "I fucks wit y'all," He inquired, not wanting to say the wrong thing. The question was asked felt like it had an entire double meaning, but wanting to be safe, he played it safe.

"Question was, would you fuck us―Are you romantically interested in us?" Sailym cut Kasim off, wanting to put it in a better perspective, for things to be more processed.

Keem swallowed and looked away, staring at the TV that was playing a cartoon, the volume turned down.

He honestly didn't know. Hakeem wasn't exactly sure if he was romantically interested. Truthfully, he had never been in a relationship. Yes, Keem had sexual partners, but that never lasted more than a night or an evening of a day.

This was different. Keem knew he was attracted to them. Not only Sailym but Kasim too, and that was a big surprise considering he had never looked at a man like that.

"I'm attracted to y'all―ion' bout romantically though," He answered truthfully, and Sailym nodded in understanding while Kasim frowned. He had to remember things couldn't be rushed, and they had to go at his pace. He was new to this.

"Alright, so you know what a poly relationship is? Or ever seen one before?" Sailym asked, sitting up straighter, her eyes locked on Hakeem. She needed this conversation to be real, raw-an open space for thoughts and feelings to be laid bare.

Hakeem paused for a second, trying to process what was being said before he nodded his head.

"That's where three people are in a relationship and shit?" He asked, recalling something about a poly relationship from a conversation he'd had in the past.

"Yeah, it could be more than three though, but that ain't really the point. Are you interested in trying one with us?" Sailym bit down on her bottom lip, her nerves through the roof, higher than they'd ever been before.

"Interested in what?" Keem asked, needing her to be clear. For a brief moment, he wondered if he was dreaming, or if this was some kind of joke to get him to spill the truth.

"A poly relationship."

"Both of y'all?" Keem asked, looking between Kasim and Sailym. She nodded slowly, knowing this was a lot for him to take in right now. If she were in his shoes, she would've been walked off by now.

"Y'all ain't tryna set me up or nothin', right?" Keem asked, double checking. Kai, who hadn't said a word this whole time, let out a small laugh before he slowly started to drift off to sleep, though he was still listening.

"Nah, nigga, now answer the question. I'm sleepier than a bitch." Kasim mumbled, his head resting on Sailym's lap.

"I ain't never been in no shit like that before."

"We just jumping straight into a relationship?" Keem was still confused, trying to make sense of it all. It was a lot to digest.

"No, we'd be in the talking stage, workin' our way to that. The only major difference is me and Kasim would still be in a relationship," Sailym explained, already having a plan in her head for how all this would go. She saw the hesitation on his face, hoping she wasn't disappointed in the end.

"Aight." Hakeem wrapped it up. "We can try." His voice was low, and Sailym grinned. Keem was down to give it a shot. You only get one life, so why not take the chance? Even if it didn't work out, he could always tell the story of how he tried.

He really liked them both, and for the first time, he found himself okay with that.

"You heard that, bae?" Sailym cheesed, glancing down at Kasim, only to see him knocked out, his head resting on her lap.

"Boy done went to sleep," Sailym inquired, turning back to Keem, who had the faintest smile on his face.

"I promise you, we gone go at your pace. If anything at all doesn't sit right with you, just speak up." She told him, and Hakeem nodded, knowing there was more to discuss―but it'd have to wait until Kasim was fully present.

"Now gimme a kiss, so I don't feel left out," Sailym pouted, tilting her head to the side, her voice sweet but playful.

He shook his head, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips, before he stood up and walked over to her. Hakeem bent down slightly, pressing three soft kisses to her lips.

Something he had wanted to do for a long time.

"Thank you." Sailym said, her voice soft, a blush creeping up her neck. It was the first time in forever she'd felt that kind of affection from anyone who wasn't Kasim.

"You welcome, ma." Hakeem's voice was raspy, rough with satisfaction as he sat back down on the couch. For the first time in a long while, he felt something real.

Something worth living for.

well let's get the real thing started but before I do I wanna let a few things be known. Kasim and Keem aren't "sassy" and even they was oh well. My character will have real emotions and will EXPRESS themselves. I know y'all used to the hood nigga rough exteriors, which they do have and will use when the time is right.

Kasim and Keem will express and show what there feeling towards each other, including Sailym. I will not have my characters acting like robots, fighting, smoking and shooting people every chapter I'm sorry and that's no shade.

Anywho what's y'all opinions on the main characters? be honest, give criticism.
