As Royalty, Not Lovers (miphvali)

Revali scoffed. "Fine."

Illios raised an eyebrow. "Ever since you were old enough to walk, you wanted to do things completely on your own. Since when do you need me to hold your hand?"

This earned him a glare and Revali stalked back inside without so much as a goodbye. His father sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "Hylia, help my son and help the poor princess who has to put up with him."

Inside, Revali made his way back to his room. His stomach growled with hunger, but there was no way he was eating another one of the horrendous Zora breakfasts. There was nothing wrong with having fish for dinner, but for breakfast? That was too much. Especially since they had fish three times a day. At this rate he was going to need his own cook just so he could eat.

Just as he reached his door, hurried footsteps announced by the clack of heels reached his ears. He paused, looking down the hall to see Princess Mipha hurrying towards him, looking out of breath with waves bouncing loose from her bun. She was followed by a rather disgruntled and wheezing Muzu, who did not look happy.

Revali frowned as Mipha reached him, Muzu trailing behind. "Princess Mipha? Is something wrong?"

"No, not at all!" She took a deep breath and composed herself. "They're announcing the engagement party. Zora News on Channel 16 is coming to do a quick live of my father's announcement."

Muzu had finally caught up, wheezing in a very concerning manner. "Princess Mipha, you should've just let me send a servant! You'll be on TV in 15 minutes and look all flushed!"

"I'll be fine!"

"Muzu is right, though," Revali frowned. "You could have just sent a servant."

She paused, looking back at him almost shyly. "I...wanted to tell you myself."

For some reason, this endeared her just a bit to him. Over the past two days they had chatted about their developments in hobbies and education. He had found her to be a good debater, once you got her to get over her fear of hurting your feelings with her opinion. And although these conversations had let them know more about each other, he hadn't felt any pull of friendship or attraction to her at all.

Until now, at least.

For some reason he found himself smiling. "Well, I appreciate that. Makes it all the more personal. Now if I heard Muzu correctly, we're supposed to be filming? Should we head to the throne room?"

"Oh, of course!" She turned with a soft smile. "Follow me."

Muzu shot Revali a look the Rito prince couldn't quite understand before they both began following the princess. It took them only a few minutes before they reached their destination, coming into the room to find cameras being set up, people calling instructions to each other, and the Zora king have makeup put on his face.

All this was familiar to Revali. There had been countless times the Flying Eagle news team had come for live events in the Rito palace. He usually just couldn't wait for them to be done so he could leave.

King Dorephan noticed them there and he nodded. "There you all are. There's a bench for you two to sit on while I make the announcement. Muzu, you're in the usual place."

The three of them nodded, Mipha quickly locating the bench and heading over, Revali trailing behind. He waited patiently as she settled herself on the bench, readjusting her dress before looking up at him. He took that his cue to sit down and he did, sighing as the makeup crew popped up and started doing his face.

He wasn't sure what he face he was making but he suddenly heard Mipha giggle. He turned towards her ever so slightly with his eyebrow arching up. She giggled again, suddenly clapping a hand over her mouth.
