As Royalty, Not Lovers (miphvali)

She disappeared into one of the doors and he swooped alongside the building, finding a door closer to her room. He was standing at her doorway when she arrived. "Took you long enough, Princess."

"Well unlike someone, I had to spend some time walking," with a smile, she unlocked the door and nodded to her guard. "Come on."

Revali hovered at the doorway for a minute before following her in. He had not seen the inside of Mipha's room at all in the time he had been there and for some reason it felt strange to go in now. He shook his head, following her in.

Her room was a reflection of who she was as a person. Everything was organized, with flowing drapes hanging off the windows and numerous paintings on the walls, nearly all of which had her signature. A desk with neatly arranged writing tools was against one wall and a bed with blue sheets was against another. There was two large chairs next to a bookshelf, to which she headed.

"Alright," she gestured to him. "Lift up your shirt so I can see."

He raised an eyebrow and she flushed pink, adding, "The wound. So I can see the wound."

He couldn't help but chuckle and he turned his back to her, removing the leather chestplate and pulling up his shirt. He heard her suck in a breath and then a finger prodded the wound, causing him to flinch. "Okay, give me a second and I'll heal it."

He twisted to look at her. "I'm finally going to get to see these fancy healing powers of yours."

"Well technically you won't see anything because the wound is so far down your back that--"

"Point made."

She snorted, and after a moment of silence, Revali felt...something in the lower part of his back, like a cool breeze. The ache that had started to form diminished and he heard step back. "Done."

He reached down, feeling the skin over. "That's...incredible."

She smiled and shrugged as he turned to face her. "It is something unique I can do. Like how you have your gale."

He stared into her eyes for a very long moment. Mipha, this beautiful, incredible individual, had almost died today. He took in a shaky breath and without thinking, leaned down and pressed his forehead against hers. She made a startled noise but made no effort to move, continuing to look into his eyes. "Revali?"

"Mipha, I..." He closed his eyes. "You are an incredible person. You've been so open and kinda to me, I--"

He didn't know where he was going with this. His breathing hitched when he felt a gentle hand on his face and he opened his eyes again. Mipha smiled. "Revali. I'm glad you are going to be my husband."

He stared at her and without thinking twice about it, he kissed her. It was more akin to brushing his lips against hers before he realized what he was doing and pulled back. She blinked. "Did you just..."

Completely out of his element, he shrugged. "Yeah."

What happened next threw him off. First she giggled and then threw her arms around his neck and kissed him properly. Overwhelmed, his hands found her waist and he kissed her back.

Just when he started relax, he heard a horribly familiar voice screech, "FOR THE LOVE HYLIA!"

They broke apart with a gasp, Revali automatically glaring in the direction of the doorway. Muzu stood there, a look of anger and horror on his face. He tried to speak, producing a lot of gibberish before he finally managed, "Good goddess, you've been here two weeks and aren't even married yet! What is wrong with you?!"

"Hey, Muzu, I have one thing to say to you," Revali's eyes narrowed. "You can suck my--"

"Revali!" Mipha clapped a hand over his mouth. "Don't you dare finish that sentence!"

He rolled his eyes and Muzu sputtered some more before simply turning and leaving, going on about "How outrageous this is" and "I'm too old for this!"

The wedding went down in royal history and was talked about years later. Many of the guests had noticed that, despite only really knowing each other for three weeks, the kiss they shared to finalize their union seemed rather passionate.

It is said that the Royal Advisor Muzu resigned not long after the king and queen's coronation, and went on to live a quiet life working in a local library.

King Revali and Queen Mipha ruled in perfect unity, and anyone who knew them said they were not only deeply in love with each other, but they were best friends too.

They had three children, two boys and one girl. Although the king was extremely proud of his sons, everyone knew he had a soft spot for his daughter.

They stepped down from the throne after their eldest son became old enough to rule and spent time exploring Hyrule together. The king died in a hunting accident at the age of 68 and only two years later, the queen joined him.
