Author’s POV:

The night deepened, the crowd thinning out as people bid their goodbyes. The once-bustling celebration now felt quieter, more intimate. Yet, the tension between Y/N and Ji Chang-Wook lingered, growing heavier with every passing moment.

Neither of them left. Neither wanted to.

---

Y/N’s POV:

I stayed back under the pretense of cleaning up, but honestly, I didn’t want to leave. My mind kept replaying every moment of the night—every glance, every accidental touch, every unspoken word.

Chang-Wook hadn’t said much, but his presence was loud enough. He stayed close, moving quietly, but I could feel his eyes on me, watching, waiting.

As I placed the last glass on the table, I turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. The dim lighting cast shadows across his face, making him look even more… intimidating. And irresistible.

You don’t have to stay,” I said, my voice softer than I intended.

I don’t mind,” he replied, his tone calm but laced with something deeper.

That something made my heart race.

Seriously,” I said, trying to brush off the tension. “I can handle this.”

He didn’t move. Instead, he pushed off the doorframe and took a step toward me.

You’ve been avoiding me,” he said, his voice low, his gaze piercing.

I froze. “I-I haven’t been avoiding you.”

His smirk said otherwise. He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming.

You’re a terrible liar,” he said, his voice dropping an octave.

I took a step back, my heart pounding, but I didn’t get far. My back hit the table, and he stopped just inches from me.

What are you doing?” I whispered, my voice trembling, unsure if it was fear or excitement.

He tilted his head, studying me. “I’m tired of pretending, Y/N.

Ji Chang-Wook’s POV:

God, she was beautiful. The way her eyes widened, her lips parted slightly as if she were struggling to find the right words—it was driving me insane.

I had been patient. I had kept my distance. But tonight… tonight, I couldn’t hold back anymore.

You’ve been running from this,” I said, my voice calm but firm. “From me.

Her breath hitched, and I could see the conflict in her eyes.

I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her voice barely audible.

I leaned in closer, my hands resting on either side of the table behind her. She was trapped, and I wasn’t going to let her go until she admitted what we both already knew.

Don’t you?” I asked, my voice a whisper.

Her gaze flickered to my lips, and I saw it—the moment she let her guard down.

Chang-Wook…” she started, but I cut her off.

Say it,” I demanded. “Tell me you don’t feel this, and I’ll back off.”

She stared at me, her lips trembling, but she didn’t say a word.

That’s what I thought,” I said, my voice softer now.

I leaned in just enough for her to feel my breath on her skin, but I didn’t touch her. Not yet.

---

Y/N’s POV:

I couldn’t breathe. He was too close, too intense. My mind was screaming at me to push him away, to deny everything, but my heart… my heart was begging me to stay.

I wanted to tell him he was wrong, that there was nothing between us. But I couldn’t. Because there was something. Something I couldn’t explain, something I couldn’t fight.

He was so close, his scent intoxicating, his presence overwhelming. I felt my resolve crumbling, and before I could stop myself, I whispered, “This isn’t fair.”

His eyes softened, but his smirk remained. “Life’s not fair, sweetheart.”

I hated how much I loved the way he said that, how much I wanted to close the gap between us.

Chang-Wook, this… this is complicated,” I said, my voice shaky.

He smiled, his gaze never leaving mine. “It doesn’t have to be.”

And then, just as I thought he might kiss me, he pulled back, leaving me breathless and confused.

---

Se-Jeong’s POV:

I peeked around the corner, grinning like an idiot. Those two were so oblivious, it was painful to watch.

Eun Bin leaned over my shoulder, whispering, “Are they finally doing something about it?”

Not yet,” I whispered back, stifling a laugh. “But it’s getting there.”

We watched as Chang-Wook walked away, leaving Y/N standing there, looking like she had just run a marathon.

She’s so into him,” Eun Bin said, shaking her head.

And he’s just as bad,” I added.

This was better than any drama we could’ve acted in.

---

Ji Chang-Wook’s POV:

I walked away before I did something I couldn’t take back. She wasn’t ready. Not yet.

But she would be.

Because this… this thing between us wasn’t going away. And neither was I.
