The sun was setting over the ancient city of Thessaloniki, casting long shadows across the cobblestone streets. The air was cool and salty, carrying the faint scent of the Aegean Sea. Tommy stood by the entrance of the university hall, his graduation cap and gown hanging loosely from his shoulders, the weight of them feeling far heavier than they should.

This should have been one of the proudest moments of his life. The culmination of years of hard work, his PhD in Business—the very achievement they had dreamed of together. But now, the day felt empty, hollow.

Where was she?

Tommy had been searching all morning, his phone buzzing endlessly with calls and texts, but there was no answer. Princess. His Princess. The one person who had always been his anchor. The thought of her not being here crushed him in ways he couldn't put into words.

The last message she had sent him flashed in his mind: "See you soon, Tommy. I'll be there." He had held onto those words, clinging to the hope that she wouldn't break their promise, that she would be there to celebrate with him.

Now, there was only silence.

His phone rang. An unfamiliar number.

Tommy answered, his voice trembling.

"Mr. Tommy?" The voice on the other end was calm, yet it felt like a dagger to his heart.

"There's been an accident," the voice said, its tone detached. "A young woman named Princess... she's been taken to Saint Mary's Hospital."

Tommy felt the ground beneath him shift. His breath caught in his throat.

"What?" His voice cracked, barely audible. "What happened?"

"We don't have much information," the voice continued. "Please, come as soon as you can."

The drive to the hospital was a blur. Tommy barely registered the passing streets, his mind consumed by the worst possible thoughts. All he could think about was Princess—her laughter, her smile, the way she looked at him like he was her entire world.

Please let her be okay, he prayed silently.

When he arrived, the hospital was a blur of white walls and flashing lights. Nurses and doctors moved quickly, but none of it mattered to Tommy. His heart was racing, his thoughts chaotic. They led him down sterile hallways, finally stopping at a room that felt too quiet.

She was there. Motionless. Tubes and wires connected to her frail body, beeping monitors keeping track of her fragile life.

Tommy sank into the chair beside her, unable to look away. His hands trembled as he took hers, tears streaming down his face.

"I'm here, Princess," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I'm not leaving you."

Days became weeks, time blurring into a single, agonizing moment. Tommy didn't know if he was awake or asleep. His entire existence had become one long vigil. The only thing that kept him moving was the faint hope that one day, Princess would wake up.

But even in his darkest moments, there was one thing that kept him anchored—the unborn child growing inside her.

Their child.

It became his purpose. His only reason to keep going. Every step he took, every decision he made, was for that baby.

One night, as he sat by her bedside, Tommy knew he couldn't do this alone anymore. The pain of their separation was unbearable. He made a decision—one that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

He hired a nanny to care for their child, believing it was the only way he could ensure their son's future, even if it wasn't the one he had envisioned.

Months passed, but the emptiness never left him. Tommy became consumed by his grief, his focus never wavering from his child. The boy, growing before his eyes, was the only connection to Princess that remained.

But it wasn't enough.

He watched from a distance, his heart breaking as the boy grew, knowing that Princess wasn't there to share these moments.

Tommy tried to find solace in the nanny, who had become a mother figure to the child. She was kind, devoted, but Tommy wasn't in love with her. She wasn't Princess.

His love for Princess had never diminished.

One day, after what felt like endless years of loneliness, Tommy made a decision that would change everything.

He tracked Princess down.

"I love you, Princess," he said, his voice breaking. "I always have. And I always will. But our son... he needs his father."
