1. EXT - OUTSIDE THE BAKERY - MORNING
GYU (22) pulls his bicycle up in front of a bakery, wearing a checkered shirt over a white tee and long pants. The bakery looks cute and cozy from the outside, adorned with pink decorations, flowers, and a poster that reads Mr. Cake. Gyu runs inside the shop as soon as he parks his bicycle, taking off his helmet on the way.
2. INT - INSIDE THE BAKERY - MORNING
GYU: Good morning, Pops!
He greets the old man at the counter with a bright smile, receiving the same smile in return from THE OWNER (85).
POPS: Good morning to you too.
GYU: A vanilla-flavored cake for one.
He places his order and takes a seat nearby. The old man smiles warmly.
POPS: Sure.
The old man returns with a cake and sets it down at Gyu's table.
POPS: Here's a delicious cake for my loyal, cute customer. May he enjoy it to the fullest.
They both giggle cheekily.
GYU: If I enjoy it to the fullest, will you give it to me for free then?
He teases, only to get a side-eye from the old man.
POPS: Well, you can get my company for free.
They laugh as the old owner takes a seat in front of Gyu.
As Gyu indulges in the cake, they chat.
GYU: This is the best bakery around. You know how much I love your cakes. When you're gone, I'm really going to miss them.
POPS: Nothing is permanent in this world. You better learn to live with reality.
He pats Gyu's head.
GYU: Don't you have any children who can inherit this bakery?
Gyu asks seriously. The old man looks down, sadness visible in his eyes.
POPS: God haven't been so kind to me to give any offsprings.
He pauses for a moment. Gyu's sympathetic expression softens further.
POPS: But I have an adopted grandson. I'm not sure he'd ever like the idea of inheriting this little shop.
Gyu pouts, then his eyes light up.
GYU: Well, I can help you by inheriting this bakery. Why don't you train me for it?
They both laugh at the silliness.
POPS: I would be so happy if someone continued this business. For me, this bakery is my everything.
GYU: Look at you, getting all emotional in front of a customer.
The old man chuckles.
POPS: If I teach you how to run this bakery, you won't be a customer anymore.
GYU: Does that mean you'll train me?
He asks with excitement. The old man smiles and flicks his forehead.
POPS: Now go home.
Gyu watches the old man with a defeated pout as he walks away with the empty plate.
