The two swayed awkwardly at first, Viktor stiff and unsure, while Jayce's enthusiasm outpaced his actual rhythm. Around them, classmates laughed and moved in time to the music, but for the two of them, the rest of the gym felt distant, blurred and unimportant.

Jayce leaned in a little closer, his voice soft and warm. "You look great tonight."

Viktor's lips quirked into a faint smile, the compliment catching him off guard. "You're a terrible dancer," he countered, unable to resist teasing.

Jayce laughed, the sound light and genuine. "I'll take that as a compliment," he replied, flashing that easy grin Viktor was starting to find both infuriating and endearing.

Not far away, Mel stood with her arms crossed, her expression unreadable for a moment before she gave a small, knowing smile. She turned her attention elsewhere, gracefully leaving Jayce and Viktor to their moment. Across the gym, Sky was deep in conversation with Caitlyn, who had come with Vi. They were laughing over something Vi said, her bright energy drawing people in as always. Even Silco, looking stiff and out of place, was reluctantly fulfilling his role as a chaperone. His stern glare did little to stop Jinx, who was gleefully spiking the punch bowl with some questionable concoction.

By the time the music slowed and the night began to wind down, Jayce and Viktor had slipped away from the crowd. They found their way to the school's rooftop, the cool night air a refreshing contrast to the heat and noise of the gym below. The stars above were scattered like diamonds across the sky, their light faint but steady.

They sat shoulder to shoulder on the cold concrete, the silence between them comfortable. Viktor stared up at the stars, his usual guarded expression softening.

"I'm glad I came," he said, his voice quiet, as if speaking too loudly might shatter the moment.

Jayce turned his head, his gaze fixed on Viktor. A small, genuine smile played on his lips as he reached over, his fingers brushing Viktor's before lacing them together.

"Me too," he replied, his voice equally soft but filled with warmth.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, Jayce rested his head on Viktors shoulder,. letting the stillness and the stars say what words couldn't. And for once, everything felt like it was falling into place.
