Sebastian screamed a pained groan. I squinted at the sight, my eyes still hurting from the sudden bright light. I saw my teammate held up by the neck. Sebastian crushed the light in his hand like it was nothing.

"Don't. Do that. Again." Sebastian growled and dropped him to the floor.

"Jesus christ! Are you an idiot or just an asshole?!" I scolded him.
The man got up and looked me in the eye only to say: "You mind if I have that med kit?"
"What? Hell no, you deserved that one. You find your own." I scoffed and exited Sebastian's little shop. My teammate close behind.

"Bye." I heard Sebastian groan as we left.

"How would I know he would do that?! It was an overreaction."
"You blinded him. You pointed it in his direction, and blinded him." I stared.
"Okay???"
I scoffed. and the conversation ended there.

The two of us kept going until the room's layout suddenly changed. Somewhere after door 60. We were met with small generators. I bent down in front of one, shocking myself at first before getting a hang of what I was supposed to do. I helped my teammate out and we continued. We did another room of them and made our way to a room with a large window that expanded all the way across one wall. A giant monster floated in front, disappearing to the direction we headed. Down stairs and to a large door.

It opened up to reveal someone near the door who had just been caught under the light of the monster. The monster sent a hook down, impaling the poor soul who was snatched and taken up. The only existence in the room now was a small splatter of blood from the second they were impaled.

"Stay out of the light" I commanded.
"Yeah, I could tell that myself"

We headed out after the lights passed. We split up, fixing generators until a loud sound echoed over the speaker system. I hid under some boxes and looked around from my spot. One door was marked with two green lights. I could see my teammate near me.

"Book it towards that door!" I shouted over the loud wailing of the beast above us.
"How do you know it's the right one?" he yelled back.
"Just trust me damn it!"

We went as fast as we could. The dense air and heavy diving gear didn't help, but as we reached it opened up. Revealing sweet monsterless safety.

"Ya know, you got good intuition." My teammate huffed, laughing despite his struggle to get in good air. "I don't like when ya bark orders at me like that though"

I breathed heavily and swallowed. Not giving his response another thought. And with that, we continued. On to door 73. Room after room until-

Lights flickered.

But... They then flickered again.

Dread pooled in my stomach, this was different from the normal one. Not like the pink kind either, that thing came without affecting the lights.

"Locker. Now!" I commanded.
"Relax, we got a couple seconds, why are you so damn bossy."
"That's none of your damn business, now get in or you'll end up like the others" I shoved him towards a free locker.

I got in and he did too, just by a hair. This thing came barrelling in, faster than the other two we had encountered. A duller more haunting scream shouting through the halls. I peeked at it through the locker as it passed, horrified by its taller mouth and long teeth. Just as fast as it was here it was gone. I stepped out. Pulling out my flashlight and shining it on the ground.

"Hey?... You good?" I asked quietly.
"Yeah yeah" He groaned and stepped out. "Let's get going."

The next room was nothing strange just a normal room with-

"Hey" A digital voice spoke over the intercom, definitely not HQ. "Check out what I got!" The voice teased.

Suddenly mechanical whirs sounded and turrets dropped from the ceiling. I ducked quickly behind a fallen locker and my teammate did the same. I watched as the turrets line of sight shifted slowly back and forth. I glanced across the room to see a lever.

"I think that lever can turn this thing off -"
"Got it!" My teammate rushed up to go hit it.
"WAIT!"

I screamed but he passed right through the turrets lasers. Maybe he was convinced he could make it in time, though it was probably just stupidity. The sound of bullets being completely unloaded into him filled the room. I heard him drop with a small splat.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Too easy!" The voice over the intercom cackled.

The sound of the gunshots were already sending me to the verge of a panic attack. My heart beat quickening and my breath following suit. I shut my eyes tight.

"Breathe... Breathe..." I repeated to myself like some sort of sad manta.
What was I risking my life for like this? Was it really worth these horrors just to be free?

My mind flashed to my brother. My sweet younger brother. He was all I really had left out there. It hadn't been long since I came down here, if I could just get back up there. Be pardoned. If I could just live. I could see him again, and take care of him. It'd be us against the world again.

My breathing slowed to a healthy pace. My heart still raced but I felt at least a bit more stable. I turned to see the turrets lasers, counting the seconds and sprinting over as fast as I could. With all my might I yanked the lever down.

"Aeeruggg. You're BOOOORING!!!" The voice said before disappearing.

I smiled, and laughed slightly as I fell onto my ass. I was all alone, but I was alive.

My now deceased teammate oozed blood from his wounds. The mere sight made me sick. It was too similar...

I stood up and left, moving on to the next room.

Lights flicker.

I stood by a locker, the lights were like the regular one we had seen so many times. It was no big deal. I could do this. I readied myself at a locker and looked in the direction of the door to know the perfect time to hide. The sound I heard this time was different though. Like metal in metal, or the sound of a train in the distance.

That's when I saw it. A round reddish brown floating ball. It's eyes lit up when it spotted me, much differently than the others. I felt my body go stiff for a millisecond as it rushed towards me. I snapped out of my horrified trance and climbed into the locker, holding onto the inside the best I could. Hoping it would pass. But... It looked at me. It saw me.

BANG!

I flinched as the locker I was in was smacked in loudly by the creature outside. It screamed and rammed itself into the locker. My grip loosening. My senses grew overwhelmed with the scent of rotting flesh and death. I gagged and my grip loosened more. I tried to regain my hold but with another harsh bang I let go, holding my face to cover my nose from the smell.

It opened its large mouth and consumed me whole. The mere scent of its insides caused me to throw up whatever was in my stomach. I banged on its insides hoping I could make it uncomfortable enough to spit me back out. But nothing worked, I felt liquid creep up on my feet. Warm fluid that began to dissolve the shoes off my feet and the flesh off my bone. Tears stung and welled up in my eyes. Dripping from them, a waterfall of agony. "No-NO! This can't be how I die This can't-" I sobbed and continued my efforts but with the pain of myself dissolving I grew weaker and weaker until...

I felt nothing at all anymore...

Suddenly, a familiar voice called out to me from the darkness.
"Oh. Hello. You died. Whaaat a shame."
