One Step Closer/ Eight

                                “Criss…I’m SORRY!”

She kept walking with a mind driven pace, as he trailed behind her…how dare he, show up in her face, like this, after what he pulled off this weekend! Despite his pleas, she ignored him, as she quickly walked to her car…he sat against the door, preventing her from opening it. She cut her eyes to him, as her pouty lips primped up.

“Hadrian, get off the door! I’m going to lunch!”

                                 “Criss!”

He gave her his best puppy eyes…it was funny, seeing a half-Asian man, trying to give sad puppy eyes. Criss giggled. “I am so gonna regret this…I swear to gawd- you tell your ‘girlfriend’, I will kill the two of you the next time you two decide to public broadcast your sex room sessions!”

“You have to admit…it was too hot for TV,” smiled Hadrian, devil horns, and all. Criss’s eyes slimmered- despite the fact, that she did get somewhat an enjoyment out of it. “Hadrian!”

“Okay!” he yelped, jumping off the car door. She opened the door, getting into her car, as he stood there looking at her. “You gonna leave me, homegirl…homie…homeslice? After all we’ve been through?”

Criss let out a sigh. This boy was something else…she had to admit though, Hadrian had a certain charm about him. If she weren’t already going through emotions, and if Austyn hadn’t cut her off at the pass, she might’ve entertained the thought of talking with him. She knew, no doubt, that Hadrian had a liking for her too, and given the chance- he would try to do them both, but she wasn’t that type of girl. Speaking of which, she was wondering what “type of girl” was she- she had told herself weeks ago, that she would not get into a relationship with another man that had a child, but yet here she was, smack dab, in the middle of a battle between Alonzo, and the mother of his daughter, Tracey, who had also thrown sauce on her shirt last week at the sushi bar. Criss didn’t want any of it…but she found it hard to tear herself from Alonzo…not to mention, that she felt kind of bad for the way Tracey treated him.

She was there last night, when Alonzo took a hard slap from his daughter’s mother. All the man wanted, was peace, and Tracey couldn’t even give him that- why was she complaining anyway? If she had “so treasured” the sanctity of their relationship, then why had she cheated on him? If she so-called cared about her own child, their daughter, then why did she put up a big issue about keeping her the previous weekend? It was heir apparent to Criss, that Alonzo was trying to give Tracey the respect for being Kylie’s mother, despite the fact that he wasn’t getting that respect back…Tracey was trying to manipulate him, every chance she got.

Her thoughts faded, as Hadrian tapped on the window. “Criss? I thought we were buddies? Friends? You gonna leave me like this?”

She rolled her eyes, unlocking the door.

                                “Get in, you big baby,”

He eagerly hopped in the car, giving her a smothering hug. Criss pushed him away. “Okay, Mister Austyn Hill- friends, not hug buddies,”
