The Missing Element (Book 3)

Chapter 15

I appreciated that he felt that Axel and I needed sometime for our selves, but I also wanted time with Lincoln. Especially now that I have been feeling him in my dreams when I see the wind spirit. "Thank you Link."

I really can't live without these guys.

Lincoln means so much to me and so does Axel. They bring balance to my life, and without the other I would feel like my world would be tipping over.

We hear the front door open. Lincoln and I both look up to see who it was. Axel then comes walking in with a big smile on his face as if he had the best day of his life.

"Hey Dove." He smiles.

I look at him confused. "Hey...why are you so happy?"

He strolls over to us to take a seat next to me. He places a kiss on my cheek and gives Lincoln a playful punch. Lincoln and I both look at each other then back to Axel.

He definitely was acting very strange.

"So whats up Axel? You seem very cheerful this afternoon." Lincoln asks him.

   
"Well why shouldn't I be. We have any amazing women by our side, and this little guy. And today I found out that we were given one million dollars." He says.

Lincoln sat up straight looking at him with his mouth open.

I still didn't know much about money, but I'm guessing it's a lot coming from Lincolns reaction.

"Who gave us one million dollars?" He asked.

   
"The Mayor. Since we are the only ones that are capable of controlling the elementals, and also can actually fight them. He wants to use our prison for the Elementals they have. Which means we will need to expand our prison and hire more of our people for security."

Lincoln laughs in excitement while he gives Axel a high-five. William was still feeding but also raised his hand up as if he wanted a high five as well.

Lincoln held his hand and kissed. Then Axel took his hand and did a little high five with him.

"Wait, but what about John?" I ask. As happy as I am to hear that they got this grant. I'm also afraid that our time trying to find John will be taking a lot of our priority.

   
"Don't worry, the mayor knows about John and gave us time to stop him before we sign the contract. He also is willing to help us in finding him." He explains.

   I was happy to know we will have more eyes out there in searching for John. Hopefully now we will find him faster, so William can live the life I couldn't.

  Everyone was out so it was only us four at the house.

Which was actually great. We played with William, watched a movie, ordered some food, and just spent time with each other. It had me thinking of what our life would be like in a normal day like today. No fighting, no worrying, no deaths, just peace.

   
We were watching a movie when we hear David and Papa walk in. David kisses my cheek, and Papa comes over to give me a hug and to steal William from me.

"So how did it go?" I ask David.
   
"Good, we got a lot of info." He says.

  Papa and David went out to speak to Davids friend who works for John. Since we were getting no leads, we needed extra help from anywhere we could get it. Papa also had some people he trusted that still work there as well. But since Papa left he hasn't been able to communicate with them.

   "They informed us that John has been cooking something up in private. I don't know if he's trying to make another experiment, or if he's trying to boost his own power. They say he's been only allowing a few close people in on the details. But so far, they haven't heard whats been going on." Papa explains.

  I remembered what the spirit elements were telling me, about something big heading our way. It had me thinking about what it could be, but knowing the cruel nature he has, he's probably torturing another poor victim.

  "Did they give any locations?" Axels asks him.

   David shakes his head. "No, they're only getting calls on what to do. Otherwise no one has seen him for about 5 months now."

  "We'll find him. We have the mayor of the city helping us now." Lincoln adds.

They tell them the details of the offer we were given. And how they agreed to help us with locating John.

   
  As they talk about the agreement they had with the Mayor, I couldn't stop thinking about the poor innocent people who could be going through torture as we speak. I was hoping that was all over when John went into hiding. 

  "Whats wrong Blue?" Papa asks.
   
"I'm worried for the people who might be going through torture if it's true." I say.

  I've been trying my hardest to forget about my time there. Whenever I think about it, it's like I'm reliving my past. Ariana says I have PTSD, and that I should start seeing a therapist for it. But I just don't feel ready to talk about it, at least not now while its still going on.

  "We will end this Beautiful. Once we know where John is, we will finally end it once and for all." Lincoln grabs my hand and kisses it. I lay my head on his shoulder and hug his arm.

    I believe him. We will stop him.
