I walked over to the water spirit. I was a still weirded out by their humen form that I couldn't help but poke my finger into her stomach. My finger went through her, and she felt like water.
She giggles and takes a step back. "That tickles you know." She laughs.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I say feeling embarrassed. I didn't mean to invade her space, but it was so weird to see them in a human figure made from elements.
"Can we focus?" The fire spirit says in my head.
"Oh ya, sorry." I say.
I turn away from them and begin to think of how to do this. Surely it couldn't be that difficult. I mean I did it with the wind spirit, so I think I can do it with the fire spirit as well.
I slowly raise my hand. But before I could even think of what to do a huge flame shoots from my hands, burning the grass around us.
I quickly grab my hand with the other and pull it back down. The water spirit puts the fire out with a wave of water, leaving only burnt grass everywhere.
"Umm, did I do it right?" I ask looking back at them.
"If this were a real place you would have caught everything on fire." The wind spirit says.
"Well what did you guys expect? You're only telling her to use your power. You're not giving her any guidance or instructions." The Earth spirit walks over to the burnt area. She gently places her hands on the ground, growling more grass to cover the burnt ones. She makes a tree a couple of feet away from me and cuts a circle in the middle of it. "Alright Mia, what do you feel right now?" She asks.
"I feel confused, and also overwhelmed." I confess.
"Understandably so, but what are you actually feeling right now, with the Fire spirit inside of you?"
What do I feel? I guess I feel warm. Like if I were in a toasty blanket, but I wasn't hot by any means. I also feel familiar with him, like a part of Axel was in me, and the sensation felt comforting. But I don't think they need to hear that.
"I feel warm, like I have warm blood rushing through me." I say.
"Good, feel that warmth. Feel that fire within you and make it your own. You aren't creating fire, you are fire."
I look back at the target on the tree. I raise my hand again, trying to think of the warmth in my body.
Once I feel it in my hands, I let out another blast. This time the flames formed to a big ball and hit the whole tree. The tree gets engulfed in flames. And again the water spirit puts it out.
I stood there feeling disappointed. Thinking that there was no way for me to be able to control this power.
"Ok, not bad, but this time let's take our time." She makes another tree in front of me. "This time, try to form the fire into something that could pierce this circle. Remember, take your time, feel it, and then shoot."
I take a deep breath again. I raise my hands up and concentrate on something that could pierce the target. I tried not to think of my usual fire abilities, like my flames or fires balls. Instead I thought about something sharp, something that will go through the tree, but also creating less damage around it.
I felt the warmth rushing to my fingertips. Fire started coming out of my hands. I took that fire and contorted it into an arrow. I didn't make it super big, just big enough to pierce the tree.
