He thought for a moment before nodding, "Alright. But you have to keep calling me time-to-time since it's so late in the night already and make sure you take your medicines before leaving."

"Yay! Thanks, Dad," I said with a smile and hugged him.

"You know I have no one besides you, right? You're my everything, my little baby," he said, rubbing my hair affectionately.

I nodded, "I know, Dad. I know."

Which was all the more reason I tolerated his repulsive behaviour towards Saif and his family. But I also knew that I needed to be strong again in order to fight for him and myself.

After Dad left, I quickly put on a pretty pink outfit. The frock was long and fell just below my knees. I quickly brushed my hair and then grabbed my phone, dialling Alina's number.

"I'm almost there," she told me.

"Come on. I'm ready," I told her.

I was done with my makeup when she pulled up in front of the house. I walked outside, pretty excited to finally be out of this place for a while.

"I'll be back in two hours, Jamil Chacha!" I told Jamil Chacha when he came out to close the gates behind us.

He smiled, "Say my salam to Saif beta(child)."

I blinked, "Chacha-"

He squeezed his eyes, "Your secret is safe with me."

I smiled at him gratefully and got in.

"You look hot tonight," Alina winked as she pulled out of the driveway.

I turned my body towards her, "Really? Do I look okay? Will it make him take me back?"

"First, he didn't abandon you. And secondly, even I want to take you back, and you aren't even my wife," she laughed, throwing her auburn locks over her shoulder.

I laughed nervously and straightened up in my seat.

"Listen, thank you so much for helping me sneak out. I didn't want to put Jamil Chacha in a spot with Dad, and I'm still not allowed to drive."

"Oh, don't worry, Ayra. You've always been there for me. I'm glad I could help you," she told me with a comforting smile.

As we pulled into our familiar street, my heart began to race. Suddenly, two and a half months seemed like two and a half centuries. The house stood dark and silent as Alina stopped in front of it.

"How will you get back?" She asked.

"I don't know. I guess I'll Uber or something. I can't let Dad see Saif right now," I told her.

She nodded, "If nothing works out, just call me again, okay? I'm at the mall with my fiancé."

I hugged her.

"Good luck, babe. I really hope you and Saif Bhai(brother) clear all misunderstandings tonight," she smiled.

"Thank you, babe," I said with a nervous smile before getting out. She pulled away, and I pushed the gates open.

"Why doesn't he keep these locked? It's so dangerous," I mumbled to myself as I stepped inside.

My home.

My house.

It looked like he wasn't home yet, even though it was way past office timings.

I knocked on the door softly. The door opened, and an unfamiliar woman, probably a new maid, opened the door.
