Lucy using her incredible reaction time saw the knife flying through the air before anyone would be able to process what was happening Lucy threw her arm in front of Zoe's face causing the knife to hit her hand preventing her superior officer from getting injured.
Some of the other officers including Bradford, Grey, Lopez, West, Nolan and Harper all saw this interaction occur in front of them.
As soon as Zoe realised that Lucy most likely just saved her life, she started thanking her (as a normal person should- because obvi you gotta be nice) for her heroic act. The other officers who witnessed the scene in front of them were also in a state of disbelief not just about how she threw her arm in front of her superior's face, but also her reaction time. It was quick. Too quick. Almost like she knew it was coming. Which she did not, well technically not, but she does know what knives sound like flying through the air, the extremely faint sounds that occur from the rapid speed of the sharp metal object blitzing through the air.
A/n- that was a very descriptive way of putting it (sorry)
After the two women had a brief conversation about the event that just occurred, which mainly consisted of Zoe thanking Lucy and being impressed by her heroic behaviour.
At this point in time Lucy had blood pouring out of her hand at a rapid pace due to the knife hitting a major artery causing the blood flow to become quicker and quicker out of her hand instead of continuing on its path in the artery through the hand.
They were all standing there trying to re-group after the failed mission doing a short debrief before making their way back to their beloved station. Lucy was holding her hand making the blood loss look as minimal as possible when she started feeling a little bit lightheaded. Due to Lucy being shot dangerously close to the spine it damaged her nervous system causing her to feel less pain and have a higher pain tolerance, her pain tolerance was already ridiculously high so now it turns from not bothering her to just not being able to feel it at all.
Lucy's dizziness started consuming her, she knew exactly what it was. A mix of diabetes and low iron. Due to all the trauma from her childhood, when she got severely injured in the military and had tons of surgery, including her amputation and open heart surgeries, it caused her immune system to slowly start failing her, since diabetes didn't run in her family they never assumed that she had it, but when her blood sugar became super irregular causing her to black out, the doctors finally found the cause. For her low iron on the other hand, that had been something she had most of her life, basically from when she was 7 she got diagnosed with iron deficiency.
Lucy was trying her hardest to stand upright but was ultimately failing for she tapped Bradford on the shoulder, he was irritated but she pointed to her right hand with the knife sticking through it and slowly removed her left-hand revealing blood gushing out of it.
She decided that because it had only just started and she was at the back where no one could see her, that she would sneak off to the shop to take insulin that lived in the medical equipment bag and fix her hand which now had blood falling onto the floor and her hand and the rag were full of blood.
She managed to sneak her way out of there an make her way to the shop. She immediately went to the boot where the medical equipment lied. She wasn't focussed on the blood coming out of her hand, she was more focussed on getting insulin into her system before she blacks out, he started scrummaging through the bag with her remaining hand to try and find what she was looking for.
When she finally found it she immediately took of her jacket, so she was able to insert the needle into her arm. As soon as she did that, she didn't even have time to sit down at let the medication to go use she had to go straight back to work on finding her supplies to treat something that if she didn't, she would defiantly pass out from severe blood loss.
She found what she needed and with her supplies ready to grab she pulled out the knife being careful to make sure she pulled it out on the same angle it went in on to avoid more damage and potentially permanent.
Just as she was stitching up her wound and near the end of her makeshift surgery, she heard footsteps coming her way.
A/N- A little bit longer, i do apologise about the parts being shorter but i am trying to make the wait not as long
